Lack of business support in form of information and education; social entrepreneurs generally lack access to the cornerstone of business development and lack of access to financing for majority of entrepreneurs, access to financing is difficult even more for those with social model. This problem is aggravated by the view that social business is of non-income generating nature.

Our solution to these challenges is a unique business acceleration program targeted specifically towards identifying, educating,mentoring and investing in Africa's social entrepreneurs.(SE4Africa)

All the income generating mechanisms in our program are tools towards the end goal of complete financial independence and wealth creation for each entrepreneur. This move towards wealth creation has a trickle down effect in decreasing poverty thought the entire communities via job creation and the positive effects of business on customers and their individual communities.

Uganda had the highest rate of  youth entrepreneurs involved in a new established business of 55.56% ("2014 Global Report 2014"). However, many of these business didn't survive  with a fifth of them having discontinued business mainly due to financial troubles.

The major reason these businesses fail or never get started is due to  the problem of raising capital as options are limited and are often not available to small and medium sized enterprises. In addition social entrepreneurs in Africa also lack the knowledge to set up business systems that can accommodate long term survival and scaling. Their problems are further aggravated by their inaccessibility to proper financial advice and business mentor-ship. 

Small businesses are not offered funding from banks and other formal lenders due to size and lack of significant profits. When they do secure a loan they often face extremely high interest rate. One solution is micro-finance which has attempted to mitigate the large unemployment rates by lending money to small businesses. The problem with this solution is the loans may only improve a single household and not an entire community. Micro lenders also lack business development resources and mentor ship programs to create truly salable business.

To solve the above problem, Einstein Rising found an innovative alternate solution and created a social enterprise program for entrepreneurs to provide business development tools and start up capital to facilitate economic growth and wealth creation. Our social enterprise for Africa program (SE4AFRICA) strategy has three pillars that is: training and accelerating entrepreneurs to develop and then share models of entrepreneurs, Education, raise seed funding for social entrepreneurs to push them to the next level of business growth, Influence entrepreneurship education to not only increase the livelihoods of new entrepreneurs but empathy and support for social Entrepreneurship.

Under SE4AFRICA program, we use online applications like zoom and google  meet to train, mentor and coach the entrepreneurs in areas of strategic business planning,startup tools for success, marketing tactics and financial modeling. Entrepreneurs generally complete this program over a period of three to six months. Entrepreneurship also linked to industry specific mentors that provide general coaching focused on finance, book keeping, environmental science, legal, marketing,public speaking and psychology.

Our solution targets the general population of social entrepreneurs at the start-up and growth phases whose mission is to create dynamic profitable solutions to decrease poverty and motivate community collaboration while maintaining culture and the environment.

Social Entrepreneurs for Africa(SE4AFRICA) program components needs to be outlined and delineated. The SE4AFRICA consists of three  major components to successfully impact and empower social entrepreneurs from the start up to the growth-stage through training ,mentoring and investment. (1) Social Entrepreneurship  out reach (SEO), 2) Social Entrepreneurship accelerator (SEA) and 3) social enterprise capital raising (SECR)

The solution assists the social entrepreneur with the expansion of economic advancement through creation of wealth.This methodology guides social entrepreneurs along their journey utilizing mentor-ship, practical tools and rigorous programs so they can find the answers to successfully run and grow their business and income.

High failures of social business, Inaccessibility of capital by these social small and medium entrepreneurs due to the sizes and lack of access to  information to extend market and network. Einstein rising provides a venues to access not only business development knowledge but also access to markets, investments/funds , among others.Thus contributing positively to entrepreneurship community and creation of jobs.

To date Einstein Rising has significant impact in Uganda since its inception of four years ago and a collaboration with its entrepreneurs in Uganda over 20,000 people went through Einstein rising out reach program.

in addition Einstein rising has impacted  over 12000 people,increased net income in over 1800 households created over 400 jobs and invested 62000 USD in start up capital and positively impacted 10 environmental issues.Einstein rising aims at directly serving 75000 people within one year and over 500,000 people over the next five years.  

Einstein Rising  and its partners seek to further increase the number and impact of social entrepreneurs in Uganda directly impacting up to 75000 people  within next year next year and 500,000 people in the next five years. Einstein Rising is also working to expand the program to Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi.The goal is to invest in entrepreneurs  who are investing in them selves to create financial independence while mobilizing their own resources to affect lasting change.

The long term goal is to be completely self -sustained by the revenue received from each investment made into the participating businesses therefore Einstein rising is working towards attaining  the business sector  by consolidating into a for profit company that follows the model and standards that are required of it entrepreneurs .   

Financial; insufficient funds to invest in the new and old entrepreneurs to do their daily operation of the organisations and to have more consultants and mentors.

Technical;Majority of our entrepreneurs are computer illiterates and this tends to slow down our delivery .More some of the the entrepreneurs do  not own devices like smart phones, computer to access the training.                  In addition, monitoring and evaluation of the majority of the entrepreneurs who are in different geographical locations of Uganda is hard for us to reach them in due time.

legal;the entrepreneurs have less knowledge about legal terms of contracts signed and those who understand tend not to compile . Majority of SMES we support are not registered legal, therefore they tend to miss out our investment due to their legal status.

cultural;majority of the entrepreneurs are more interested in funding rather than knowledge and skills about business development.Therefore it hinders the  delivery of our services as some of the participants tend to drop out before the end of training .

Market; since majority of entrepreneurs are small and medium businesses therefore we find difficult to access market for their products and services.

uncertain circumstances for instances Covid-19 which has limited and slowed down the rate of service delivery for instances some of the target population who do not own devices are unable to access our services. 

Financial; partnering with potential organisations like Solve that give funding to invest and refer to our graduates with higher capital requirements to programs finding partners which include impact investors and banks.               Our long time goal is to be completely self- sustained by revenue received from each investment made into the participant's business . Einstein Rising is working toward entering the business sector by consolidating into a profit by providing the same training and free business development service to secure smart investments which will generate a sustainable revenue source.

in order to over come the problem of computer illiteracy among the entrepreneurs, we provide basic digital training before the programs training, so that entrepreneurs are equipped with skills that will enable them complete the program. in addition we carry out physical training to benefit the entrepreneurs who have no access to online platforms.

Legal barrier; Einstein Rising helps the unregistered entrepreneurs with paper work required for them to register and hold legal training to equip them with basic knowledge in regards to  legal part of business.

 Market Barrier; Einstein Rising provides market grounds and opportunities through trade shows,POWES Kampala ,Innovation week among others ,Therefore through these avenues they are able to access market for their products and services.

Einstein Rising is made of over 10 full time staff members and 10 part time staff mainly these are mainly consultants coaches or mentors.

The program id managed by a team of experienced personnel and  under the guidance of board of directors, The founding director has five experience of working and specializing in  international non-profit and SME business development.

The country Director has 4 years of working with social entrepreneurs and attained 1 year social business development and management under GSBI accelerator program. 

The business Development manager has a 3 years experience with working with NGOs and specializing in development of small and medium sized business.

The public Relations Manager attained a Bachelors in Journalism  and Mass communication focused in public Relations on image management. 

The filed monitor attained a bachelors in arts and social sciences and has 7 years working with NGOs and with small and medium Businesses.  

Currently Einstein Rising has a partnership with Makerere University Kampala's largest and third oldest university in Africa. it offers business accelerator portion to undergraduate and graduate level students and leads their entrepreneurship innovation center.

Grameen Bank/unitus seed fund assisting them in developing their newly launched Uganda projects.

Out box ,Mali and Digi coin  provides day to day loaning support and follow-up for current entrepreneurs on areas of finance, business management, marketing, customer management, digital marketing and other business skills.

Open capital and Bid network assist in  undertaking engagements and facilitating investments for for the entrepreneurs. Einstein Rising collaborates with other hubs such as Sawa World wide, impact Hub and Kampala Angel Investors.

Einstein Rising has partnered with Organization like  Earth day Movement, Roofing(U) Limited, Youth Fighting Climate change and Wilmart Development Foundation to run its corporate social responsibilities programs in order to positively impact the Community and Environment. 

Our model provides value to social entrepreneurs in Africa who lack the knowledge to set up business systems that can accommodate long term survival and scaling. Their problems are further aggravated by their inaccessibility to proper financial advice and business mentorship.  

Einstein Rising has developed a social business accelerator program the Social Entrepreneurs for Africa (SE4A), provides free business development services, mentorship programs, and a non-lending model of startup capital investment to entrepreneurs. 

Einstein Rising uses both online and offline services to deliver its services to its customers and beneficiaries. 

Local entrepreneurs utilize local resources to move their communities out of poverty as they build wealth and an inclusive economic system in the free market.

 Einstein Rising provides  staged investment of $2,500 to $10,000 USD to facilitate growth from the start-up phase to the expansion to the most impressive entrepreneurs. However, the graduates with higher capital requirements are referred to the program’s funding partners which include impact investors and banks. The portfolio of investors continues to grow. The investments will vary depending on the needs of the company and investor. The terms of the investment will also vary depending on the company’s financial projections. Einstein Rising will see a return on its investment by earning 10% of gross revenue from each investment. After 10 years the businesses’ financial obligation contract with Einstein Rising will expire.             For outside investors, investment opportunities are generally structured through equity or convertible notes. Equity is the simplest form; however, convertible notes create a safeguard for both the investor and the entrepreneur during the launch phase. Investments made to Einstein Rising entrepreneurs will incur a one-time management fee, and the rate is variable per situation. Generally, the investor pays 5% of their investment on top of the investment total. This fee subsidizes Einstein Rising’s expenses to maintain oversight of the growing company. The Einstein Rising company receiving the investment will have a finder’s fee giving over 10% ownership in exchange for setting up and brokering the deal.  

The  funding acquired Solve from will enable us to overcome  some of the  barriers  below that are hindering us from meeting our goal as a company. Our Board members and management are equipped with exclusive  knowledge and experience in decision making process.
