Parttime Placements
The problem we identified is unemployment especially amongst the youth in Uganda, Africa and other parts of the world, according to employers, this has been highly attributed to lack of required skillset and work experience.
Parttime Placements matches the University graduates, and Unskilled people especially the youth to job training opportunities, where they can build on or improve their CVs to get hired, gain skills to fit the changing job demands and also being able to use the knowledge to create their own jobs.
If scaled globally, it could benefit millions of young people and adults across the world, since one of the root causes of Unemployment is linked to this. Hence they will be able to gain new skills required in the job market, improve on their CVs and start their own jobs.
As specified above, the biggest root course to unemployment in Uganda, Africa and the world is due to lack of required skills from the graduates and work experience, and graduates find it hard to gain this skills and experience when they have not worked, therefore hiring is highly based on the qualifications and work experience, hence majority of the young people are caught in the trap.
Unemployment in Uganda alone stands at 80% and 60% in entire Africa and majority of the calprits being young people at the age of 18 to 35 years. In Africa alone over 12 million jobs need to be created to help address the problem of unemployment.
This initiative would help to Bridge the gap by helping skilling young people to be employable and to be job creators.
Parttime partners with organizations, companies and other institutions to place young people to job training opportunities, with a bid to equip them with necessary skills required for servival in the world today. That is to be employable, become job creators and gain work experience to get employment.
The platform is both web based resource and also a downloadable app with training opportunities that young graduates can apply to and will be matched to. The supervisor will be attached to trainees who will allocate them specific tasks and projects to work and accomplish.
The solutions serves all people looking for job opportunities, But for the piloting phase we currently putting emphasis on young people looking for specific skills, and employment opportunities. Especially those at the age of 18-35 years currently graduated from the University or still in University and other tertiary institutions, even those who are not in higher institution of learning are included.
As we are developing this solution we carried out an online survey across Uganda to get the feedback from the targeted audience about the platform, and this has highly helped us on different development phases like business modeling and think and design right marketing and distribution strategies.
We expect to place over 500 young Ugandans to job training opportunities before the end of the year(2020) and we expect a half of the number to be retained as employees;
To have been equiped with required skillset to meet the demands of the corporate world and create jobs using the skills and exposure gained;
From next year, the platform will be deployed in other countries across Africa, like Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya and more. And by the end of 2021 we want to have benefited over 3000 people.
- Equip workers with technological and digital literacy as well as the durable skills needed to stay apace with the changing job market
As highlited from the start, that 80% of young Ugandans cannot find jobs, this is not because the jobs are not their, its because they don't have the required skills to be deployed in this positions. Especially the technical and durable skills.
If this platform is deployed, majority of this unemployed population would be able to acquire the skills necessary in the job market and also being able to use exposure to create more jobs.
So by doing that, the solution would align to the challenge
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
- A new technology
Our solution besically matches young people to job training opportunities through the help of an App and website that is fed by information on training opportunities that benefitiaries can just search and apply basing on their preference and later matched and placed to the job training opportunity without interviews. In addition to that, the platform benefits both educated and also uneducated audience, the most important thing is for both to gain the required skills.
We currently don't have clear competitors, but we anticipate HR consulting firms to change their mode of Operations. Some of them include; Fuzu, Shortlist etc.
What sets us different from them is that, we are approaching unemployment especially amongst the young people by placing them to job training opportunities in different institutions, unlike them, who do basic recruitment for companies on their behalf, hence tend to look at qualifications and experience. That will leave majority of young people unemployed.
Our platform uses an App and website. That can be downloaded and searched by targeted audience, so the service can be accessed from any where long as a person is connected to the internet.
We are on the process to leverage on Artificial Intelligence to help us with matching the applicants to training opportunities within five minutes
For now, our solution is web based, though we are on the final stages of App development.
Currently the service has been tested in Uganda.

So what happens, is that, a person can search the above website, they will be able to browse available training opportunities, after they can select the one they are interested in and apply. They will receive notification for their placements within 10 minutes.
NOTE: Full procedure of use is provided in the website. Look through carefully.
- Software and Mobile Applications
According to our survey, its clear that the solution is going to impact a good number of young people. Out of 284 samples from our targeted audience, they were really excited to hear about the solution and willing to embrace it.
We are positive that, once we deploy this solution,
1. Before the end of the year, over 500 young Ugandans would be placed to different companies for training, and out of those we expect a half to be hired by the companies, aquarter to have started their own initiatives and others to have improved and gained new skills required in the job market.
If this platform is embraced across Africa alone, a target of creating 12million jobs in five years time will be achieved, because this platform is skill centered and highly focused on exposing the young people.

- South Africa
Currently, 50.
In one year, over 3,000+
In five years, 1,000,000+
We will be launching this solution in July, 2020, we want reach over 500 young Ugandans before the year ends, this will be triggered by leveraging on social media to create awareness and potential partnerships.
In the next five years, we want to expand our operations to Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and more. This will be through the replica approach, and collaborations. We anticipate to benefit over 1million people from this different countries in three to five years from now
Financial capacity, especially to keep us moving with our growth strategy, especially when it comes to implementing our marketing strategies, human resources, getting technical support.
The other is to onboard more and professional companies and other institutions to support our agenda. That will take young people to train in respective Fields.
Application of Advanced technology like use of AI that could be used to ease the matching of applications, for them to receive their feedback within five minutes.
We also face a problem of deploying offline version of resource search, where those without access to Internet and smartphones could still have access to the service
Financial Capacity. We will raise funds interms of grants and equity based funding that will help us to facilitate our marketing, growth and expansion strategy, especially hiring, training and technical mentorship. Etc.
To address the challenge of shortage of professional companies that will absorb young trainees, we will work hard to create and develop partnerships with different stakeholders that will help us with the outreach. Also we will deploy a strong marketing team and a good distribution strategy to on board new and reputable companies and institutions
We intend to work with advanced tech firms to employ AI in our operations, if we could get an opportunity to become Solver, MIT solve would help us in this.

We provide highly efficient and reliable platform to graduates, unemployed youth where they search and apply for job training opportunities that they will be matched and placed to. The platform is both web based and an App.
At the end of the training, we expect the trainees to have been retained for full-time employment, gained new skills to start their own businesses and to have improved their CVs to be employable.
The service is entirely for free, trainees only pay some little money for their supervision.
This solution is important to the target audience because it will help them to acquire skills that will allow them to deal with todays corporate demands either in Technology, industry etc.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
For inception, we will only raise money inform of grants and donations as we expect it to be supplemented from our sales.
Later we will raise investment funds based on equity and also grants

To join a supportive community of peers, funders and experts, this is highly important for idea exchange and learning and the network of funders will help us to address a challenge of lobbying financial support to drive us to our goals.
This program will help us get right and reputable partners to work with, events like Solve MIT event is one of the places to get partners, since one of the challenge we have is to get reputable and right partners on board this program would help us to bridge that gap.

Partners to help us with investment support, raise investment from early stage ventures and capital fonds. This is to support our market research and to pilot our product in new markets

MIT Solve. This is to help us improve our business modeling, technical mentorship and entrepreneurship training and to link us to other partners through the events like the MIT event
The solve community will help us to link to different initiatives and entrepreneurs. Some of this initiatives already work with different institutions, so it will one of the easiest ways to onboard new Partners
The UN, partnering with the UN would highly profile us and will enable us to easily on board big brands to help us to reach to our growth and expansion targets. They could host certain number of trainees in our current countries of operations.
Our ambitions is to match and place even refugees to training opportunities irrespective of the countries they come from, the major thing is to ensure that they can gain skills that will equip and enable them survive in countries and communities they are hosted.
We will use the funds to help reach to companies and institutions that operate in the areas that the refugees are hosted, to start taking them and place them to training opportunities in their respective departments. Also we would on-board different organizations to tailor training to this refugees
Because the platform requires the benefitiaries of our platform to pay for their supervisor time, we could waive this for refugees, so they wouldn't pay some money for the training.
As I said from start, the major reason of this platform is to match all people to training opportunities irrespective of the Fields and backgrounds they come from, the main thing is to enable them gain different skills such that they can, get new well paying jobs and get employment, gain new knowledge to start their own businesses and improve their CVs to be employable and I think our a genda is inline with this prize.
Close attachments to GM would be an opportunity for us to wage a partnership with them, and receive further technical support, management mentorship, marketing and strategy formulation among others
Our platform puts on emphasis to empower all individuals with different skills set, even if they are not well educated, they can be granted an opportunity to train and gain different skills with high emphasis in digital literacy. That I think is aligning with the goal of this prize.
This will be an opportunity for us to enter into Europe through Portugal hence will enable our growth plans to happen.
