bildits
- Pre-Seed
Bildits is dedicated to challenge creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills of any child in the world. Bildits is a construction hardware toy acting as a replica of real-life buildings using real-life small scaled material. In addition it aspire to enhance professional orientation and developing motor skills.
Education in the MENA region is among the lowest in the world, failing to equip the growing number of youth with proper skills needed for the global marketplace. A recent study by the World Bank states that the Middle East and North Africa faces a 40% unemployment rate among youth, and Lebanon specifically hovers just below at 34% of youth unemployed. Among the most significant complaints by employers, is that young people lack the “soft skills” such as creativity, critical thinking and problem solving that are needed for the 21st century workforce.
If young people are taught critical thinking, problem solving and creativity then they will be equipped to fill 21st century jobs needed to address the skills-gap employers are facing in the MENA region.
Bildits is a solution that will help youth and adolescents choose their future career path and encourage them to think outside the box, and question how the world is built around them. It also gives a clearer view on engineering problems and solutions while having fun. In addition to selling the kits in traditional toy stores, our primary outcome is to integrate Bildits into school programs and educational institutions in order to embed creativity, critical thinking and problem solving into educational curriculum on a much larger scale.
tracking the number of kits sold in toy stores - 25 000 kids will unleash their potential in building and creative thinking in Europe by Christmas 2020
counting the number of schools interested in the solution that bildits offer - integrate the bildits culture in 25 schools by the end of next year

Bildits, allows youth to design a structure in their mind and then build it themselves. Bildits introduces the real process of construction user will use the tools provided and follow instructions in the manual to build a scaled model building while going through real life steps like constructing steel structures, pouring concrete. The instructions will allow the user to learn how and why each construction step is done. This will provide the user with the opportunity to build self-designed models having learned every step of real-life construction. There isn't a similar "toy" that provides such a comprehensive experience in the market.
Bildits designed its product through numerous focus groups with youth ages 13-18, and tailored each of the instructions and models based on the interests and needs of the youth. In particular, our approach of allowing youth to design their own structures versus creating step by step manuals for pre-designed structures was inspired through this process. This unique component was tested in all our focus groups and we found greater degrees of interest and peaked creativity from all participants.
Bildits kits will be available in several toy stores. And the bildits culture will enter school's curriculum as a tool for career orientation and creative thinking.

Pilot phase:
-Sell 500 Bildits toys by Christmas.
- Integrate school programs and educational institutions to expand the bildits culture via workshops.
Growth phase:
- sell around 6000 kits after a year from launching.
- Organizing competitions and interactive forums grouping bildits hobiests.
-Develop an infrastructure that would penetrate the European market 2 years from now.
The production is slow because we are manufacturing the wood pieces ourselves. We are trying to get the pieces from china otherwise we’ll have to continue manufacturing in-house until we switch to plastic once we can afford a big investment.
A funding is crucial for speeding up the development, our team often have to manufacture its own machines and setups to save money, and most of the manual work in manufacturing is done by the core team. With more fund bildits can afford workers, big industrial machines, a better marketing campaign and a scale up of the production size.

We aspire that all the students in the world will have a better understanding of real career jobs and real life engineering problems so that they will have the chance to explore their potential when it comes to problem solving, creativity and tactile skills. We also encourage the kids to have the curiosity to ask how the world around them is built and to think outside the box. Through the connections, help and proper guidance of Solve we will definitely spread our solution wider and faster and impact the world more efficiently.
Currently we are funded by the UNICEF and working on the business/marketing aspect with an incubator called Alt-city under a program called Elevate.
