PickantApp
Pickant is a resource sharing platform. We help people across Africa get access to farming equipment, delivery, transportation, storage, services, water&food. On Pickant, anyone can post a request for a solution or offer one for money.
Poverty and hunger are still common in Africa due to lack access to basic solutions.
While training thousands of poor people in Africa, we have learned that there are solutions available. The equipment, resources, and services people need are in-fact nearby. People would be willing to help each other for some extra income, too. They only need help connecting.
This is where Pickant helps. We connect those who need with those who have!
Example: Say someone is heading into the city to pick up some supplies: someone else could ask them to help by picking up their medicine. Say another is looking to use a water pump: they can find one available on Pickant!
Hundreds of millions of poor people in remote areas in Africa&Asia often don’t have good access to:
-Products (food, medications & hygiene, AG-Inputs…)
-Curriers/shipping solutions
-Accommodations & Storage space
-Equipment
-Services & Knowhow
-Clients
So they pay a-lot for simple things, or stay behind…
In many cases they even die of starvation and lack of medical aid.
Yet- Others in their regions might have what these poor people need, and willing to share it for money, if only they knew of one another….
So PickantApp platform connects those who have unused/latent capacity with those who might need it!
And for low-costs…
On PickantApp platform- anyone can post what they need or publish resources that they are willing to
share with others around them for a fee.
This is a real Market Resilience solution using latent capacity in developing regions.
Especially in quarantine days, when people are blocked with no food and medical or hygienic supply while others around them might have access to solutions, this becomes more relevant than ever.
It is ideal for young entrepreneurs- students, small-holder farmers & communities, in Africa and in other developing countries- as a platform to offer their solutions to the needs of the communities around them, and also to generate some cash at the same time.
No installation is required, and it works on any phone or computer with internet.
Every poor person in remote areas and in the cities too, might benefit from from sharing of unused resources/latent capacity. It provides access to things they are missing on the one hand, and also creates a quick source of income on the other. It can impact all of his family by providing solutions to most of their needs, solutions that without the option to find it among people around him, he would not be able to provide.
In many underdeveloped countries, people might have extra food/water/medical supply/Agricultural equipment which they can share, or simply go from one place to another and can fetch things for others on their way. If they could gain something from sharing all that, they would help others while helping themselves. We connect those who have with those who need, for the benefit of both!
- Enable small and new businesses, especially in untapped communities, to prosper and create good jobs through access to capital, networks, and technology
PickantApp is designed to enable poor people in areas with lack of access to essential things, to share their needs with others and find solutions among communities nearby. Those who have needs can post them on the platform, and those around them who might have solutions (as happens in many cases in underdeveloped countries) can offer it and gain some money by doing so. Our platform encourages people to make better use of their latent capacity/unused things, and it encourages others to seek for a solution around them before giving up, thinking that they would never find what they need
- Scale: A sustainable enterprise working in several communities or countries that is looking to scale significantly, focusing on increased efficiency
- A new business model or process
For many years now, government and NGOs were trying to help poor people in Africa and other developing countries. Usually without sustainability durability and resilience.
Over the years, we have trained hundreds of thousands of poor people in Africa as sub-contractors to many governments and NGOs. In that time, we have learned that there are solutions available. The equipment, resources, and services people need are in-fact nearby. People would be willing to help each other for some extra income, too. They only need help connecting.
This is where Pickant comes into the picture. We intend to connect those who need with those who have!
The innovative side of our App is that we bring poor people the opportunity to improve their situation without being dependent on foreign AID. If only they share their latent capacity, they would solve most of their concerns.
Other Western solutions like Uber/Facebook marketplace/2nd hand websites are simply too complicated for Africa, and only work with user's credit cards which most Africans simply don't have. We overcome these issues by permitting users pay directly to one another or with SMS, and by providing an adjusted interface, simple and friendly even to those who cannot read.
Our app is based on the newest application format, a Progressive Web Application (PWA), that makes our app compatible with any mobile phone or computer that has internet. Our unique data base format is connected to each user no matter what device he is using, and it can be accessed by any user around the globe, using our graphic friendly interface that is comprehensive to analphabetic users as well.
It is then requires no installation and it is working on any device- android and iOS.
The app is used in Africa already, mainly Senegal, Niger, DRC, but in other countries as well. We have almost 1,000 users already within few months only since launching. The offers on the screen attached are real offers of real users.

Creating access to food/water/equipment/medical&WASH supply/'know-how'/Agricultural inputs/markets... has been the biggest challenge that gov' and NGOs are trying to solve in Africa. In most cases without success, and once the external funds from these orgs are gone the access is gone. So the poor stay poor, and the gov' and NGOs did not create a sustainable change.
Over the years, we have trained hundreds of thousands of poor people in Africa as sub-contractors to these governments and NGOs. In that time, we have learned that there are solutions available. The equipment, resources, and services people need are in-fact nearby laying as latent capacity. People would be willing to help each other for some extra income, too. They only need help connecting. But governments and NGOs are not focusing on solving these issues by sharing this latent capacity, they try to solve issues differently, by providing solutions that are based on local staff-members, training, equipment and many other benefits that they bring to the poor.
This is where Pickant comes into the picture. We intend to connect those who need with those who have!
We know for a fact after so many years of creating solutions to this lack of access, that real sustainable solution to access is in-fact the one that comes from the poor (beneficiaries) themselves. And since there is so much latent capacity around them, we figured it makes sense to harness it to solve the access issues in a model that will stay active with or without the intervention of external fund like gov'/NGOs/Donners. The motivation of poor people to find solutions is there, and the motivation of others around them to gain from sharing their latent capacity is there as well, and we believe that it is there for always. Thus change in access is inevitable and durable…

We have close to 1,000 users already that are serving families of 10-20 people each.
In a year we will have 10,000 users that will serve about 100,000-200,000 people.
In 5 years we will have 1,400,000 users that will serve about 14,000,000-28,000,000 people.
Our goals are to reach about 1,400,000 users in the next 5 years, so they will provide solutions to the needs of about 14,000,000-28,000,000 poor people in Africa!
The platform and its use can be replicated to any developing country in the future.
Our only barrier now is financing in order to scale-up at the pace we want
We intend to overcome these barriers by applying to Impcat VC
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
2 full time staff and 35 local field agents working on commissions
We have an outstanding leading expertise of about 15 years in Value-Chains creation to fight poverty and hunger, and I Perry Amitai am considered to be a leading expert in the field of access creation for USAID and other NGOs in that field. We know we have the right solution, and our technical programing team is a leading one in his field too. We have no doubt we are well positioned to deliver this solution, and we are delivering already, which is the best prove to our statement!
USAID's programs in Africa. They promote our solutions with their beneficiaries.
Our business model is income from subscription fees (only from suppliers of solutions), and from advertisments of big firms to smallholder farmers using our platform
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
We will bring in money to fund our work through combination of all: sustained donations and grants, selling subscriptions, raising investment capital, advertisements.
To find financing and to promote our solution to anyone in that field
- Funding and revenue model
We need support in financing the scaling-up of our activity
We look for grants and donners, we look for Impact VC.
Our solution is applicable for refugees as well, as an access provider to anything they need and that can be found not far from them with others who have latent capacity / unused solutions they can offer.
Our solution is applicable for women as well, as an access provider to anything they need and that can be found not far from them with others who have latent capacity / unused solutions they can offer.
Our solution is applicable for job seeker as well, as an income generator as well. Say someone wishes to generate a quick income, all he needs to do is to post a trip he is doing from one place to another, and take deliveries on his way for others around him. He will create a path for them taking or bringing things they need and he will make money by doing so.
Taking many deliveries for people around you, or sharing your unused things like space, equipment, services ect, enables you to gain an actual solid income/salary, while you help others with access to solutions.
