Being a physically disabled myself (paralyzed legs and walks with a crutch), I couldn’t help not to re-call of the own experienced POVERTY and HUNGER challenges survival initiative effort resulting pains that accompanies disability lives that is why together with my spouse, we converted and formalized our initial self-help farm into a sustainable conservation farming and agriculture development social enterprise practical remedial solution to POVERTY and HUNGER challenges start-up project with humanitarian purposely made disability friendly participation facilitating opportunities for the traditionally long directly or indirectly neglected and excluded from various social opportunities, the desperate poor, worst-served male, female and older people with physical disabilities who can’t engage and participate in productive living activities on their own without humanitarian purposely made disability friendly participation facilitating opportunities, to engage and participate in our project’s sustainable farming and agriculture activities alongside sustainable food/financial earning returns. 

At rural African communities including Tanzania, everyone is empowered to participate in the local food supply systems and environment against POVERTY and HUNGER challenges except millions of the traditionally long directly or indirectly neglected and excluded from various social opportunities, the worst-served, male, female and older people with physical disabilities who can’t engage and participate in productive living activities on their own without humanitarian purposely made disability friendly participation facilitating opportunities. Through our start-up project, the Barongo Evergreen Farm Investments (BEFi)’s humanitarian purposely made disability friendly participation facilitating opportunities for people with physical disabilities to engage and participate in the project’s core ground farming and agriculture operational activities, activities are purposely increasingly physically eased and allocated to willing and interested both disabled and non-disabled individual participants according to each’s physical nature, ability and talents alongside sustainable food/financial earning returns, where assistance is required all project activity participants are to share the hand for the benefit of all, towards the leaving none behind in POVERTY and HUNGER challenges future world. 

Through our disability friendly sustainable conservation farming and agriculture participation facilitating opportunities alongside sustainable food/financial earning returns, we are empowering the traditionally long directly or indirectly neglected and excluded from various social opportunities, the people with physical disabilities, against POVERTY and HUNGER challenges, project activity participants, that is people with physical disabilities together with the non-disabled are increasingly not only able to access and contribute to their household families’ affordable nutritious healthy food products and sustainable financial earning returns but are further benefiting in learning  of improved practical farming and agriculture knowledge skills from a close rural based practical sustainable conservation farming and agriculture development social enterprise source project, affording of respective specific disability assistive devices for those in need, positively arousing disabled people’s self-esteems/recognitions and better livelihood zest resulting from productive living participations as we all applaud global development initiatives that aims to leave none behind in POVERTY and HUNGER challenges.

We are targeting to extend further and reach many people with physical disabilities in all other Tanzania regions’ and beyond through collaboration or cooperation partnership approach with other disability survival/empowerment interested stakeholder parties and entities as our project stabilizes, grows and expands.

Our innovative solution, the BEFi project, have the potential of being the right one than others in addressing the disabled people’s POVERTY and HUNGER challenges because if its origination and how it improved to today’s disabled and non-disabled people’s empowering status. It started as a Tanzanian physically disabled person’s farming and agriculture self-help support initiative effort, thereafter, was improved, innovated and formalized into a sustainable conservation farming and agriculture social enterprise business development remedial solution to POVERTY and HUNGER challenges start-up project with humanitarian purposely made physical disability friendly participation facilitating opportunities, for the traditionally long directly or indirectly neglected and excluded from various social opportunities, the Tanzanians people with physical disabilities, to engage and participate in productive living. Though linking the practical sides of global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and human development, we have gone deeper to include the overlooked humanity ground people’s survival, livelihood and development initiative effort necessity elements, not ending at one’s survival and health initiatives but we are also trying to make it easier and possible for people to have productive activity participation opportunities regardless of one’s physical disability. Our ground practical works through which we are also adhering and positively contributing to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) requirements in ever-greening the world, not because they are adapted into statutory laws and guidelines, it is because we see climate change matters as part of humanitarian mitigation measures for people with disabilities who have limited adaptive capacities in adapting to unfavorable changing environment hazards.
