OuiCrowd for Urban Impact
Making our planet better poses an extra challenge for Africa, which already has to deal with eradicating poverty. While the global environmental problem exceeds its financial capacity, there is an opportunity for entrepreneurs in Africa to play a crucial role to make a positive impact on our planet.
However, they are facing significant barriers in accessing finance because they operate in an ecosystem where it is difficult to raise capital. Banks are often unwilling to lend them money and international crowdfunding platforms use a payment system, which restricts contributions originating in developing countries.
OuiCrowd is a reward-based crowdfunding mobile application that breaks ground on how neglected and untapped communities can participate in crowdfunding. We are different from any other crowdfunding platform out there because our business model empowers businesses in the green industry, uses a cutting-edge payment mechanism and a solution to maintain the momentum of crowdfunding participation.
Our disruptive crowdfunding platform solves the right problem, entrepreneurial finance, to empower rural and urban populations with access to capital for them to start their own business in order to meet their basic needs.
The UN reports that urbanisation in Africa will exceed 45% growth by 2050.
Sustainable urbanisation requires cities to generate better income and employment for rural and urban people. The bulk of international migrant flows consists of young people (70% are younger than 30) but goverments and NGOS are unable to significantly increase their income. If nothing is done, millions will remain trapped in poverty with unsecured work opportunities.
We believe that there is an opportunity however for entrepreneurs in Africa to play a crucial role to make a positive impact on our planet with every dollar earned. The problem is that they are facing significant barriers in accessing finance because they operate in an ecosystem where it is difficult to raise capital.
Banks are often unwilling to lend them money and international crowdfunding platforms use a payment system, which restricts contributions originating in developing countries. Yet, 70.9 million young people are unemployed and at least 20% live in the developing world (Hult Prize Challenge, 2019).
We leveraged the unprecedented popularity of mobile connectivity and mobile money in Africa.
One campaign at a time, our customers (from rural and urban areas) sign up and market their funding purpose and funding goal on our crowdfunding platform. Our incentive tool Perk It increases chances to meet or surpass funding goals by 30% from both local and international crowds. At the end of the campaign, one can collect funds generated in order to develop its business and OuiCrowd applies a 4,25% fee to the funds collected.

We leveraged the unprecedented popularity of mobile connectivity and mobile money in Africa.
When you think about crowdfunding, you may think of Kickstarter ( targeting projects in arts and technology), Indiegogo ( targeting projects in technology) or GoFundMe ( for social purposes). However, they completely disqualify the participation of entrepreneurs in Africa particularly, as their payment processor is not aligned with the prominent payment solutions in Africa. Indeed, they are still more than 1 billion people across the world that do not use credit cards.
With our application, you will gain insights into how OuiCrowd displays a robust technology that is easily scalable : our payment processor accepts payment solutions across the world, given us a comparative advantage to the current market.
In addition, we targert the most promising ventures in the green industry aa mean to make our planet better with every dollar earned.
The core differentiator of platform is our payment processor, which makes crowdfunding accessible in Africa. This is imperative as entrepreneurship is vital to drive sustainable development.
Our payment processor accepts all existing payments solutions across the world ( from cash, debit & credit, mobile money and crytptocurrency). In order to accomplish that, we use an innovative and new payment mechanism usually used for e-commerce, which uses AI, blockchain technology and cloud computing. It is called WeCash Up.
Within a signle API provided by WeCash Up, OuiCrowd integrates into its crowdfunding portal all the existing payment solutions across the world.

OuiCrowd was created to tackle youth unemployment and empower population battling to get access to capital.
Our story begins in 2016 with the story of Mary-Catherine, a three-year-old Gabonese girl who was mutilated alive by three young people seeking to sell her organs to earn $100 . While such crimes are on the rise across Africa because some believe them to be ritual practices that grant wealth, our research found that the perpatrators of these crimes were youth severally impacted by the lack of opportunities through which to earn income. These youths must therefore resort to other means, such as crimes or gang life.
Imagine that the 3 young people that did that to Mary Catherine were able to get their business of the ground, live a dignified personal and economic lives, do you believe the output on Mary's life will have been the same? About on their lives?

The overview of our SWOT Analysis outlines that the operational team of OuiCrowd works part-time. In addition, even tough teh team was shorlisted TWICE in the Hult Prize Challenge (2016 and 2017), which rewards the best social enterprise with 1,000,000 US dollars in start-up capital, OuiCrowd currently seeks mentorship for funding and business development as it scales its model to multiple geographies and markets. Finally, the absence of regulation of crowdfunding in Africa compared to North America limits OuiCrowd to a donation and reward-based model. Whereas, the debt and equity crowdfunding models are on the rise globally.
