DIGITAL AGRICULTURE FARMING PROJECT

If Lesotho gives Digital Agriculture a chance to show how the economy, more than 30 % of unemployed citizens will have jobs and also help promote the golden rule of corona virus of social distancing. How all this will be achieved is with the use of Digital Agriculture the agricultural market will be moving to online, this means there will be less need for people to be crowded in big retailers like Shoprite and Pick and Pay which make billions and only benefit a few farmers. How job creation will be created is even if a farmer has a small land to producer either vegetables or has a limited number of animals, this small entrepreneur will also benefit through this software which will intern help the country in reducing the number of people to support during this time of great financial crisis.  

This project is the brain child of Mr. Modisaotsile Setilo, and was brought about because in Lesotho Agriculture seems to be declining not because farmer’s knowledge of growing crops has declined but because either farmers produce too much and have no market or have smaller lands for bigger production. Looking at the situation that affects all countries currently (corona virus), it leads most countries to realize how depended they are on other countries. 

How the software works is only the farmers will sign up so if say you are a small entrepreneur and have a small garden or maybe 10 sheep, as a farmer there will be options as to what that particular farmer sells and when products are ready the farmer simply clicks product ready on their page and the software will alert the system that sheep is ready for sale where ever the famer registers is where the farmer will be found if people want this sheep, so for instance if a famers lives in Mafeteng where ever the farmer was during the location verification at Mafeteng that’s where customers will find such famer( the location can change) what that means is it work like a navigator, so people in Mafeteng will get the exact location of such a famer through their phone so this works by showing a customer the closest farmers that sells the product they are looking for and price checks for farmers selling the same product and locations that are close by and when this products are finished from that famer the farmer simply clicks product finished 

As a customer you don’t have to sign up for anything the service is absolutely FREE all the customer has to do is have the software, which will be FREE as well, the only people who will endure cost are the farmers at a small amount of R100 monthly, this is because the farmers are going to benefit from the expertise in Digital Agriculture; marketing costs and management cost will be of  a shared price of R100 each famer which would have been more expensive if a single farmer was to hire people of such expertise by themselves its COSTLY and the POOR will suffer because the POOR will not afford the expenses of having to travel to town to sell products or even advertise or advertise in a proper way but with Digital Agriculture most farmers can benefit from this as most famers can afford to pay R100 monthly THIS AMOUNT IS NOT FOR PROFIT ITS FOR KEEPING THE OPERATIONS OF THE COMPANY AFLOAT. Like the saying goes you cannot be Jack of all trades meaning one could be a good farmer but a bad entrepreneur that’s where Digital Agriculture comes in as a bridge to this gap.
