KWUISO (Quick Sourcing)
KWUISO, coined from "QUICK SOURCING", is an innovative agribusiness real-time supply-chain startup that will integrate agriculture downstream (farms/Farmers) to the upstream (Markets/Suppliers/Off-takers/Merchants) for instant products trading and value exchange using a basic digital technology; Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD). We will connect every farmer in Nigeria to instant buyers within and outside of Nigeria.
Nigeria presently loses up to 60% of it's gross annual farm products to post-harvest waste. This amounts to about $50 Billion annually. It affects up to 70% of Nigeria's 200 million population linked to agriculture. This waste is not only in product, but also translates to waste in livelihood, exploitation of farmers, dumping on the environment, dissuading consumers from access to and affordability of healthy and nourishing food, demotivation to farmers and potential farmers, loss of GDP, more unemployment and high priced food products. This is due largely to the lack of an integrated supply-chain.
60% of Nigeria's agricultural products are lost post harvest. In monetary terms, Farmers in Nigeria Lose up to $50 billion every year because there is no solution that connect farmers to buyers as soon as or even before harvest and there is no ubiquitous platform leveraging on technology that can help them instantly get across to buyers, especially in urban centres where such product are ironically scarce, expensive and needed. This very problems has a ripple of effect of other problems as listed below:
1. Farmers invest materials, funds and efforts yet run at losses of Billions of dollars every year.
2. Buyers in the urban centre lack access to information of where such products are available due to geographical location, hence price hike.
3. Many farms lay off workers to cut losses every year, therefore bloating unemployment pool.
4. The country losses up to 25% in GDP.
5. Most Farmers live in rural areas and are illiterate with little knowledge of smart technology and smart phones.
6. Unstructured agricultural products logistics bring about individual costing of transportation done at exploitative prices.
7. Merchants and suppliers take advantage of the post-harvest waste reality to underprice products from Farmers.
Our solution is to create a world-class supply-chain platform that leverages on basic digital technology known as the USSD, integrated with a mobile app and an e-commerce channel, a third-party transportation/logistics investment opportunity and a standard call centre as a single solution to bring respite to Farmers, Buyers, Suppliers, traders, exporters, consumers and profit to us.
Below are more solutions:
1. Farmers may not be illiterate to use smartphones, mobile app or e-commerce web app but Nigeria presently has 189 million active mobile users and they all can dial simple code on their phones to instantly link up to our control centre and connect to buyers, hence USSD code supply-chain.
2. Connect Farmers throughout the country to instant buyers.
3. Connect agricultural products traders to the farms.
4. Provide product at competitively cheaper price
