Business for Humanity
- Pre-Seed
Our solution is to promote youth innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment by providing disadvantaged youth worldwide with the training and resources they need to find or create employment, identify problems in their communities, and create solutions to solve those problems.
Business for Humanity is a non-profit that helps disadvantaged youth to develop the entrepreneurial mindset and skills they need to prepare for the workforce of the future.
Youth Entrepreneurship Curricula
We are working on developing a series of fun, simple, and innovative youth entrepreneurship curricula and programs geared towards disadvantaged children and young people of all backgrounds and skill levels (grades K-12, and ages 18 to 24) that can be implemented in a variety of settings (e.g. schools, after-school programs, community-programs, home-settings).
Employment
We will provide in-demand skills training to help youth find employment in startups and small businesses.
Pitch Competition
We will organize pitch competitions where youth that participated in our entrepreneurship programs will get the opportunity to pitch their business ideas in a bid to win micro-investments to fund their projects.
Some of the competitions will be open ended where youth can pitch any idea while others will focus on certain problems, e.g. combating counterfeit medicine.
Free Pro Bono Services
We plan to build a network of pro bono volunteers to provide services such as marketing, legal, technology, etc. to entrepreneurs.
Micro-investment
We plan to provide seed funding in the form of micro-investments to high potential entrepreneurial ventures.
Entrepreneurship is not just about starting your own business, but developing an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset that will help youth to excel in their chosen career paths by being able to identify problems and opportunities, take initiative, and tackle challenges in their chosen career paths.
Entrepreneurship is universal, and our solution can be scaled and implemented anywhere in the world to teach youth 21st century skills, and create employment. We also plan to deploy our resources and courses over a mesh network so it can be accessible to anyone with or without internet.
- Kids are most creative and innovative in their early years, however the current education model in most countries do not teach entrepreneurship to kids.
- 4 out of 5 children entering primary school today will eventually hold jobs that do not currently exist.
- Due to rapid technological advancement, there is uncertainty of which skills the future generation will need in order to succeed in the workplace.
According to World Bank (2015):
about 30% of youths worldwide are not in employment, training, or education.
600 million jobs need to be created in the next 10 years globally.
Young children and youth will learn the skills they need to succeed in any career. The survival skills identified by education researcher, Dr. Wagner as essential for youth to succeed in the 21st century workforce will be incorporated in our curricula: critical thinking and problem solving; collaboration; adaptability; entrepreneurship; communication; analyzing information; curiosity.
According to SBA, U.S. small businesses accounted for 64% of new jobs created between 1993 and 2011. Our programs will help youth start businesses that will create jobs; our in-demand skills training programs will help youth learn the skills they need to find jobs.
Our proposal will enable youth worldwide to:
Learn vital skills that will help them excel in any career they may find themselves in. Disadvantaged youth that have developed an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset will be able to identify problems and opportunities, take initiative, and tackle challenges in their chosen career path.
Use entrepreneurship as a means to provide solutions to problems in their community and the world at large.
Build businesses that will create youth employment, reduce poverty, and increase economic development.
We will provide training to educators and volunteers interested in teaching our program to youth in their communities.

Our solution not only equips youth with an entrepreneurial mindset and skills that will help them succeed in the 21st century workforce, it also gives them the opportunity to solve problems in their communities, create jobs, and increase economic development.
Our use of mesh networks will make it possible for anyone to access our resources with or without internet.
Our short term goal is to rely on donations while our long term goal is to build a sustainable non-profit that uses its return on investment to grow, invest in more businesses, and fund projects that tackle local and global issues.
Our solution is built around the needs of underserved youth. Our curricula, programs, and trainings will specifically be tailored to the needs, education levels, and skills of the underserved youth we will cater to through an iterative process that is based on research, interviews and feedback from underserved youth and educators. Our programs give them the opportunity to solve problems in their community through entrepreneurship.
One of the reasons why we decided to use mesh networks is to make our resources and solutions accessible to anyone with or without internet. It also helps us create a decentralized information sharing platform.
Our youth entrepreneurship curricula and programs will be available free of charge to underserved youth, educators, parents, community organizations and anyone that is interested in learning or teaching youth entrepreneurship.
We will work with schools and educators to help them incorporate our curricula into their classwork, after-school programs or summer programs. We will also provide training to parents or volunteers interested in teaching our program to their children or youth in their communities.
Our pitch competition will take place in schools and community centers.
We will travel to communities to provide free pro bono services to entrepreneurs.
