Tunnel Farming for Food Security
Since agriculture plays pivotal role in any agrarian economy, especially in Pakistan where it supports the lives of about two third of population by providing them employment, income and other life sustaining resources. Agriculture sector is believed to be the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and one would not be mistaken to consider women as the gluing force of this backbone for its effective performance.
The Project focus SDG 2 - End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. Under this the objectives of the project are:
• To improve production by improving the capacity of 450 female farmers in modern agri production techniques and tunnel farming during 12 months project duration.
• To boost agricultural production by providing quality input like seeds, fertilizers and equipment and training to vulnerable female farmers to combat hunger.
• To promote tunnel-farming concept in the project area through establishment of three model greenhouses in three villages.
The project aims to address the availability of food and reduce hunger and uplift women farmers. the A total of 450 Female Farmer Families in 3 villages will be identified and selected for further interventions.
A comprehensive training program will be carried out by professionals for the selected female farmers, it includes Crop Production, Vegetable Production, and use of modern farming techniques.
To promote tunnel-farming concept in the project area, 3 model greenhouses will be established in three villages. The greenhouses will be established at central and convenient places
Anticipated Outcomes:
i. The target community is well-acquainted with modern production techniques focusing better and beneficial agriculture farming
ii. The productivity of various agricultural products is enhanced by 40% due to provision of quality inputs to target beneficiaries iii. Modern farming practices suited for small land holding are promoted in the project area
- Support small-scale producers with access to inputs, capital, and knowledge to improve yields while sustaining productivity of land and seas
The Project focus SDG 2 - End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
- A new application of an existing technology
The innovation is the focus on women.
Introduction of latest technology to agriculture for productivity and efficiency is indispensable. Farmers need inputs to increase production, but access to these is often poor in less developed countries. While inadequate transport and marketing infrastructure are often at root of problem, there are certain aspects that can be addressed.
Tunnel farming is the technology being used by number of countries. In Pakistan this technology is not being used to tap the best output from the available land and other resources.
We will implement the project with main focus on women as these are the main human source in agriculture in Pakistan.
Equipping women with new technology and concepts of agriculture will boost the production and will alleviate poverty.
The solution followed by some of the farmers produce far much better results in the area as compared to conventional methods.
So we are very confident that the solution will up lift the most marginalized segment of the society.

Currently we are not serving but the solution will serve 450 farmer women in one year and more than 2000 in five years.
Our goal for next one year is to train 450 farmer women in tunnel farming and for next five years more than 2000 farmer women.
Main barrier in application of the solution is funding.
The barrier mentioned above can be solved by receiving funding.
- Nonprofit
There are 5 full time, 10 part time and 25 volunteers.
As the NGO is community based and have deep roots in the community.
