We are soon will be 9bln people at planet and everyone need to eat, but current food production methods doesn’t give possibility to increase amounts anymore, conventional industrial agriculture is not sustainable. It is one of the most harmful industries to our planet, responsible for: 70% of the planet’s water use; up to 24% of greenhouse gas emissions; degradation of soil and groundwater pollution. Continual ploughing of fields, combined with heavy use of fertilizers, has degraded soils across the world to the point where arable land is now lost at the alarming rate of over 100,000 square kilometres every year, far outstripping the pace of the natural processes that replace diminished soil.
Additionally food is travelling a lot, average 1kg of tomatoes travels 1000 km to de on consumer’s plate. Climate change makes it more difficult too. Finally, 35% of food produced is wasted due to logistics and transportation systems to deliver food to people in urban places.
All these makes us to think about new way of organising the food production system. iFarm idea is Food shouldn’t travel at all and should be available everywhere. iFarm is creating system to produce food everywhere.

Our technology is software, artificial intelligence system and bigdata, sets of growing recipes of crops. We do have ready technology now, software and hardware in case our customers doesn’t have own farms yet, we have already customers and partners and scaling actively in Europe and Middle East. As a company we are headquartered in Finland.
iFarm SaaS-solution is based on a wide range of modern technologies such as IoT-sensors and controllers, robotic irrigation, planting and harvesting systems, blockchain technology, computer vision and machine learning.
Potential market is global. iFarm will start in EU, iFarm’s innovation has truly global impact and customers base. Due to climate change and other problems (covid19 most recently) people understand they need local sustainable food production. iFarm potential customers groups are: Hotels, Restaurants and Cafes, Food Retail, Food Processing Companies, Flavor producing companies, Catering and Airlines, Real Estate Developers, Big Corporations and its offices, schools kindergardens and universities, private householders. Literally anyone who need to eat. Average person fresh food consumption is 64kg annually, and numbers are growing in developed countries. iFarm will produce food at places where people are living and eating. During next 5 years it will be around 1,000,000 square meters of farms built. amount of clean food yearly produced will be 47,760,000 kg.- iFarm will save 418,800,000 m2 of agriculture land to produce this food.
- iFarm will reduce CO2 emission for 3,728,000 kg per year. iFarm greens are eating CO2 and producing oxygen, additionally reduce emission because of no using transportation.

It helps to plant automatically and accurately, maximizing workload, issues clear instructions to plant breeders on planting care and monitors the progress of daily agricultural and technical work, provides tools for online monitoring of climate and production on farms, allows to get a predicted crop at a given time and significantly reduces the burden on farm staff.
iFarm innovation is in user interaction methods, when consumers are not obliged to know how crops are growing, rather just deciding what they want to grow and push one button on their PCs. iFarm system is easy to use, economically feasible and truly universal, giving a possibility to grow almost anything due to self-educational technology and a lot of agrotechnical maps of crops inside. iFarm is constantly working on adding new agrotechnical maps of crops, having more than 120 by the date and adding 20 more each month. iFarm system is also flexible and allow to change personal characteristics of food by defining climate in totally controlled indoor environment by the wishes of customers.
iFarm innovation is unique. No other company on market can do and provide all things together: software, hardware and bigdata. No other company providing one mutton experience for consumers while giving crops growing recipes inside software. No other company is doing truly universal in terms of amount of crops we can grow and amount of experiments we are conducting with different crops, light, crops growing conditions. No other company connects all customers farms into one database to collect and proceed information for every customer usage later. No other company is using drones, computer vision and artificial intelligence to control and adjust growing conditions in real time.
Our uniqueness also in business model – we are doing all via partnerships, not trying to compete, but cooperate with other players. Time is right exactly now. 2 years ago LED lighting technology was yet too young, using too much energy and giving too much heating to get economically interesting results. Now it is developed enough allowing us to build vertical farms, we can go inside houses and grow everything vegetable. Timing is right because of climate change – it is became critical already, we don’t have anymore free agriculture land to use. Also Covid-19 added understanding that current methods when food is producing outside cities and then travelled to customers it not stable. We really have a risk to be without enough quantity of vegetable food even in developed countries. We need to react now.

- universities. We are speaking now with Wageningen University & Research (WUR), University of Helsinki Agriculture and Foresty Faculty, HAMK Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), The École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). We will work together on crops science.
- Cities. We are speaking now with city of Vantaa (Finland), Espoo (Finland), Lausanne (Switzerland), Schaffhausen (Switzerland) to start joint research project in urban farming/smart cities projects.
- Corporates. We are speaking now with Microsoft, Google, IKEA, Firmenich, Nestle, S-Group, Coop to agree and start R&D together to see potential of urban farming for food processing and consuming.
- Engineering companies. We are constantly looking for innovation in energy and water saving.
- Software outsourcers. We are already working with some and will be working more to order different modules to develop.
- Other vertical farmers. we are already speaking with several companies to adopt our software and growing recipes, we are starting R&D and software integration together. examples are: Eponic Agriculture Europe in Hungary, JonesFoodCompany and TheWasabiCompany in UK, Yasai in Switzerland, inFarm in Germany.
- Construction and equipment companies. We will work with many subcontractors when we will build hardware products. We will select best possible on each market and sign long-term agreements. today we only have partner in Finland.
