IMOJ LOW CARBON FEED

We seek to grow catfish to will supplement the high carbon foods currently consumed in the Nigeria. Our plan entails using new technologies to grow these fishes at the least cost so as to be able to offer rural communities cheap but quality source of foods in low carbon and high in proteins, vitamins and minerals.

We are trying to provide a cheap but quality source of protein through ease access of catfish to local communities that cannot afford it. This is a huge problem in the rural communities of Oyi Local Government, Anambra State in Nigeria as most residents lives on about $2 per day and can hardly afford to include such in their meals. We estimate that about 30,000 - 50,000 households are affected, most of wich include families.

Our plan entails we grow a fish farm in the local community which will be affordable to the households of the community. We construct an artificial pond within a secured farm. Fingerlings will be introduced into the pond which we intend will grow and be sold to the local community. To manage the farm at the most affordable rate, we will locally grow the feeds for the farm using Daphnia and Brine Shrimp which we intend to culture in large quantities at another pool. The energy on which the farm will be run on will be 100% solar powered. To guarantee that there will be no waste, the water source will be the local river in the community and we generate manure for the local farmers by harvesting the waste from the fishes before we change water. This will also help the community as the cost of fertilizer is very high and mostly unaffordable by them.

Our plans will serve every member of the community especially the low income earners. This will help them introduce less high carbon meals in their households. The plan also benefits the farmers in our community as they will have almost free access to manures which will help in high yields of their produce. The plan is intended to be driven completely by the local community. The plan will not only address their low protein feeds but it will also high them in their high yields in their crop farming.

According to Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics, about 41% of the population lives on less than $1 a day. This means that their feeding is highly structured on survival rather than nutrition or low-carbon protein diets. Our plan focuses on providing nutritious low-carbon protein supplements to their diets. The ultimate goal is to help lift these bracket of the population from the dangerous health implications of lack of proteins foods especially the young members of the population.

The innovation of my solution lies in the intended use of the waste as a bio-manure for crop farming. As the system grows fully, these waste will be a cheap source of bio-fuel which can help the community considering the persistent energy difficulties in Nigeria.

The core technology that powers the system is irrigation and biodegradable fish wastes.

The product is intended to serve about 1200 people in its first year. With an estimated 10% growth every year, we expect that it will about 4000 people by the next five years.

Our solution seek to establish and maintain market dominance in animal protein industry.

Within the next five years, our goal is to have plus between our assets and liabilities, and can support other startup farms that imbibe our core values.

Currently, we have difficulty accessing the necessary funds to help us take off.

We are seeking partnerships with various agencies and individuals who share the same ideology as we have in helping the community establish quality but affordable source of low-carbon protein diets.

Our solution is developed under IMOJ Global Enterprises Limited which is an indigenous company in Nigeria registered at Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) since 2017 which seeks to provide a sustainable farm to will provide adequate and affordable protein to our target consumers. We seek to develop a world class farm that will focus on producing quality animal proteins, particularly in fish farming, rearing pigs and poultry. 

We have a full-time staff of 5, part-time staff of about 8 and 6 contactors.

My team is made up of very diverse individuals who have handled different projects of immense value within the country. They are well versed in engineering, biotechnology, and related sciences that will help us achieve success.

The team leader teaches Mathematics in a Nigerian University with over 7 years experience. 

His assistant has a similar years of experience in brewing industries all over Africa.
