Consolidated sustanable development plan
To engage the unemployed youth in agro-based development using low cost methods and sustainability principles. To create jobs for the Zimbabwean youth through small scale agro-based projects which do not exceed $1000 in starting up bit can generate twice the amount per season or per turn. The idea is to engage the local community and empower them through greenhouse farming, small scale gardening, animal husbandry, online marketing and sustainable development in energy use and other aspects life water conservation and efficient production. These activities are to be done on geographically separate places and maximum effort to be put on reducing reliability on arable land and rather the economics of space and knowledge of technology to reduce wasting space and resources. These sites will be development sections
The project seeks to address the unemployment of the youth, especially those who recently graduated from University. It provides a partnership approach to creating cooperatives with high intensity production which is agro-based and does not rely heavily on arable land to deliver results. Each small group will be given a $1000 start-up and expected to produce double in returns after the season. Records of their sustainability efforts in terms of water usage, energy, innovation and technology will be produced. The marketing and selling of produce will also be a cooperative under the fund which markets all the produce and are expected to make a return of double the invested amount. In Zimbabwe, more than three quarters the graduates are unemployed making a number of approximately 23,000 per annum of unemployed graduates for the past decade which gives 230,000 people (ZimStat; 2019). The economic state of the country and the unavailability of fund capital contributes to the challenge.
This solution is a cooperative based approach to solving unemployment in young graduates. The solution seeks to reach out to graduates through an online platform and engage them in agro-based production of small scale projects which generate twice the amount of money invested as revenue. This project will look into the sustainability concepts of the developments and how the use of water, energy, innovation and technology is being implemented and at the end of a period the projects are reviewed and furthered. It will be a competition based projevt where the winners of the small scale projects get more shares of the profits to further the more sustainable project and the lesser projects are given the more competent members to further their sustainability objectives. The aim is to employ the youth especially graduates and teach them how to sustainably work and create wealth. The profits will sustain the livelihood of the youth and the sustainability will generate wealth and as they develop more they will become independent of the scheme and go their way to sustainably develop on their own.
The project seeks to help the unemployed youth especially university graduates. These youths have a need for income to sustain their livelihoods and employment to guarantee their security as they are seeking to get lives of their own without dependence on their parents/guardians. In that respect, this project seeks to address the employment and income needs of the youth by establishing local cooperatives which will produce agro-based products in their local environment for commercial purposes and they will compete amongst other cooperatives within the scheme. This pushes creativity towards sustainable development and innovation. The desired outcome is to achieve high income projects with the least input costs and to employ the youth with tangible profits. This will liberate the youth from seeking employment in the harsh economy and will push towards sustainable ideas for the greater good of the economy.

- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
- A new business model or process
This solution is innovative because it takes a community based approach at attempting to solve the unemployment problem through utilizing the natural advantages of land and availability of good climate for championing agro-based production initiatives in the modern day Zimbabwe. This is an innovative way of creating employment for the graduating youth who are full of energy, knowledge and competitive business ideas but are at a disadvantage of opportunity to showcase their talent and competence. Through this solution, the opportunity to solve food, land and economic problems is being presented in the form of competitions which heightens the ability to understand the sustainability need and to achieve the SDGs in a new fashionable model. This model presents the competition based on creating a web page on the Purpose Consultancy servers and uploading progress reports of the innovations each team is using in their project, there will be exam-based reporting procedures which will show the innovative water conservation and productive methods that the teams are employing. The produce is to be sold by a marketing team which will also be part of the competition and they will be involved in digital marketing and their innovation and use of technology to market will be tested as well. Adjudication will b through trusted bodies and NGOs. Criteria for the competition is mainly innovative agro-based development on small pieces of land beneath a hectare in size and from a low capital base.
1. Web and Internet usage. The solution relies on the use of web-based data-capturing and internet based advertising, communication and marketing. This includes the creation of an online shop and a door-to-door delivery mechanism in order to counter the effects of Covid-19 and to increase efficiency in the production chain
2. Irrigation and smart farming. This project relies heavily on the use of technology in order to come up with the most economic way of high yields. The technologies and models involved in this project are to ensure that there is adequate water usage and conservation, counter-measures to erosion and climate change, address to afforestation and greenhousing to utilize soil, less reliance on arable land through innovative planting or animal rearing methods.
3. Research and development. This project seeks to gather data on new production mechanisms being discovered in the process of the competitions. This will also include manufacturing of fertilizer from human and animal waste, the use of solar for irrigation and the value addition of product from the projects before hitting the market.
The web-based record-keeping and marketing is popular technology in developed countries. This is the business model by Alibaba and Ebay. The difference is that the project will have a grocery shop which will have the same shipping facilities for the produce from the agro-based sites.
The irrigation schemes are common practice in horticulture and the harvesting of rain-water is common practice for the projects of such a smaller size in terms of land. The use of solar energy and other agricultural technologies like smart irrigation are common in Zimbabwe.
The production of bio-gas and fertilizer from human waste and animal waste is technology in existence and being practiced although in small scale and with less intensity.

- Solution technology
- Funding and revenue model
- Marketing, media, and exposure
We need technology solutions in our business model in order to handle the innovation capacity which we intend to harness in the course of the project-life cycle.
The project to be a success requires a lot of start-up capital in terms of infrastructure and as such we need exposure to funding in order to secure the starting of the project. However the sustainability of the project is ensured by the revenue-generating nature of the project. Although there might be need for additional capital for asset development and technological investments resulting from the research and development nature of the project. As newer methods surface, so will stronger capital needs which may not be met with the operational profit made from the project.
There is need for assistance in marketing, media and exposure especially in exporting the produce and breaking into foreign markets (going global).
