Monaya Poultry and Eggs

Monaya is Located in Kajiado County where the Minority subtribe the Maasai are the occupants. Majority of this people families living below the poverty line, most are unemployed and seeking outside economic opportunities. Young people between ages 19- 30 engage in drug abuse and crime in the area. We strive to help each family get a sustainable source of protein.

Kenya is known for its agriculture, but in recent times agribusiness has been affected in the country dues to the changing climate patterns in the country worsening the food situation in the country

 Increasing the amount of poultry will help ease the situation as there is demand for proteins and little supply of the same to the markets. If we engaged in this activity then there would be improved food security

Monaya deals in production of eggs. We currently have 1000 birds and are looking to expand. On a daily basis we get an average of 920 eggs. The Birds are in cages making the collection and feeding easy as everything is done manually

The eggs are located and Distributed to the local market on a daily basis.

The community around get to benefit in the following ways.

• We have hired several young people from the community around. They are educated on caring and attending to the birds for maximum output. They in return get some remuneration to take care of their families.
•   Poultry eggs and meat are highly nutritional value and the people are educated on the benefits and the need to have the right amount of Protein Intake
• Poultry dropping are given to some members of the society who use the droppings  as manure to plant there vegetables and boost there yields
  

With the Venture we are unlocking the opportunities for people to get a steady supply for poultry products and helping the unemployed get work and skills to start there on similar Venture. This in return will remove some kids from the streets and put food on their tables.

Monaya has four Directors who are also shareholders, two of whom are actively involved in the day to day running of the business.

In addition to them we have 2 casual workers who are on full time basis and help in maintaining the firm.

We also have a vet who works part time and when needed

The Shareholders in the visionary business have reached higher levels in their studies.

One of the active shareholders hold an MBA from the university of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology,  she helps with knowledge and skills in running of the business.

The other director Holds a diploma in accounts and ensures the running the books are properly maintained and are regularly internally audited by the rest of the directors. He has over 3 years of experience in the field

The Other two directors hold a degree in management and human resources. They help us to interact with the community to help us deliver much better on their needs.

With these diverse set of capabilities, we have a lot to achieve and deliver.
