Banana Industrialization Development

1. rural poverty ,unemployment, high costs of fertilizers and climate change due to the traditional burning of banana stems waste 

2.promotion rural,village and  city farmers banana farmers plantation cooperatives and value addition or value chains development of producing banana flour and chips from the banana fruits, while also using the banana stems wastes to produce; banana fibre to produce environmental biodegradable sustainable  baby diapers, sanitary pads , shopping bags and other over 150 hand crafts products, banana soft drinks, candies and pickle, also using the banana Sup to produce banana liquid organic fertilizers and other products, also production of vermi manure. Also that solution will also Zambia and any participating country to contribute to climate change mitigation through promotion of the zero, also the reduction of imports and use of chemical fertilizers 

3.has vast potential for high job creation at all levels and across sectors and climate change mitigation 

the main challenge in implementing this solution is startup capital to procure or produce various technologies or tools of banana fibre extraction , banana pickles, candies and soft drinks , banana liquid organic fertilizers and  vermi manure processing.Including procurement of technologies for banana fibre sanitary pads , diapers and shopping bags processing and manufacturing etc.

also that all banana farmers donot any value addition and losing out the actual business value and all related social -economic benefits of value addition and indeed globally very little is being done to maximise this value banana value chains potential and benefits with capacity to make give about 200 to 400% profitability with full banana value chains promotion. 

also that the banana fruits and stems , almost all parts are medicinal and including for the COVID19 immunity improvement. So you see that the whole farming community is affected is this lack of knowledge and lack of access to appropriate full banana value chain development technologies.

therefore we are two best possible implementation options ie; promotion own banana plantations and full banana value addition and chains development as above , also to also buy both banana fruits and banana waste stems  from banana farmers for value addition . The other option is through a franchise model provide or partner with banana farmers by providing  value addition technologies or products brands , so that they also enjoy the full value chains profitability and benefits . 

all would be participating banana farmers cooperators and banana value addition partners ,including employees are expected to have fully improved lives sustainably.  This is so and important as this process is key for global climate change mitigation and adaptation. 

For Zambia , we actually we are also  exploring it as a possible national economic recovery strategy , but also that all farmers will have the opportunity to benefit from  cheaper competitive agro inputs /fertilizers .

but also that all rural areas and farmers will have the opportunity to have the banana as an extra whole produce and incomes earner etc.

we are also engaging the Council of Chiefdoms as a an easy way to understand their needs  better and also to also see how we can best collaborate profitably. We therefore expect the solution to address their various social and economic needs etc.  

the mentioned targets are well aligned to the challenge solutions in many ways ; as one reason small scale banana farmers fail to get value is lack to meet the high needs of inputs and fertilizers that the banana needs  through out its production period. But also lack of knowledge and technology capacities for full  banana production and value addition and value chains development .Though this may also meet the to three and four of the challenge solution areas in one way or another etc. 

this initiative is totally need in Zambia , apart from Uganda's Banana Presidential initiative which only focus on the Matoke or banana fruits value addition and abit of partial indian value activities .

Therefore , the Banana Industrialization Development , which is also known as the Zambia Banana Industrialization Development Initiative and also Zimbabwe -Zambia Banana Industrialization Development Initiative, is designed to be a full banana fruits and stem waste value addition and value chains development.Also designed to promote multi -stakeholders partnerships with both the Governments of Zambia and Zimbabwe in both country -wide plantations development , joint value addition and markets development through the Government to Government economic diplomacy

But also   designed as a key climate mitigation and adaptation strategy in promoting zero waste and also banana liquid organic fertilizers production and reduction of national imports of chemical fertilizers and farmers uses .Therefore also to also to attract in carbon funds support and making the initiative more sustainable or use these grants as commercial loans grantees and more 

therefore this initiative is totally unique both in zambia and globally   

this is a new business model and process and its value is focused effective uses  of various technologies at all level of banana value chains development  as follows;

a. Banana fibre extraction technologies 

b. banana fibre sanitary pads, diapers and shopping bags processing . production and manufacturing

c.banana stem central  core processing of candies, pickles and soft drinks 

d. banana stem Sup /water processing and production of  banana liquid organic fertilizers and other products 

e. banana stem wastes vermi manure and manure composts production 

f.banana flour and chips 

g. banana plantation irrigation, branding and packaging ie;AI 

all the above mentioned technologies are used in isolated in Uganda, India and other countries 

this solution is expected to have impact on the problem we are addressing in many ways as follows; 

a. to provide huge potential for improved banana farmers /rural incomes increase and livelihoods improvement 

b.improved banana farmers profitability 

c.increased banana value chains development & value addition activities in Zambia and across Africa

d.To be rated  as the key national and continental economic recovery strategy for Zambia and the rest of Africa 

currently the banana fruit alone is a USD48.Billion plus annual income earner and second best global fruits to mango but with vast medicinal values as confirmed by the Indian National Research Centre for Banana and others in their various studies 

currently none, but looking at about 1000 in a year from now , to 5000 in the next five years 

first of all ,it is our vision to scaleup across the COMESA region and whole of Africa in terms of banana value chains development , while also looking at global markets development for the various banana foods and other sustainable  products mentioned above.

therefore we see this as both a  business , SMEs development strategy  for zambia , Zimbabwe and whole of africa more especially , as this crop can only be best grown here in these regions or tropics .also with potential to provide millions of direct and indirect jobs as indicated in the full business products etc. 

the key barriers is the initial financial  startups and technical or technology challenges , as we already have would be and interested investors as soon as the business is fully operational. Therefore all what is needed is the initial financial or startup capital or technology to invest in the various banana value chains  activities and initial working capital resources, as all aspects are well.

the strategy is addressing our the initial financial startups and technical or technology challenges is exploring some strategic investment partners and partnerships from any one from around the world 

this initiative is designed under ELIF Business Solutions with a view to establish a special purpose vehicle (SPV) public private sector partnership with Governments or public sector businesses and others , as a special joint venture for  Zambia's National Economic transformation,including partnership with the farmers cooperatives or farmers unions etc. 

we are currently working three full time , with about ten part time and ready to contract more full time and contractors when the venture is operational at various levels .

good dynamic team with complimentary skills in both business , agriculture  and also with various willing strategic public and private expert institutions both locally and globally ie; the Zambia Research Institute (ZARI) , the India National Research Centre for Banana and many more

the key customers and beneficiaries to be; supper markets , schools, hospitals, general public , local, regional and global markets . the products to include banana fruits  and by products mentioned earlier and also all the mentioned banana stem by products. These products are needed by all , as the banana is the second most popular fruits to mango and available whole year , also medicinal   and also the proposed sustainable biodegradable products .

Here we need solve to help us in technology and working capital resources mobilization ie; grants, carbon funds , debt  and equity financing opportunities

Here all our activities under this funding prize  shall be dedicated to promote women and girls in our banana Industrialization development initiative activities .

As seen that this project is focused on using and promoting banana value addition and value chains development , hence we use  machine learning to as a key operational strategy and therefore  using these technologies  plan to use machine learning to amplify our impact in our overall project operation .

hence this support shall go along way in achieving our goal to get started and indeed full implementation of our Zambia Banana Industrialization Development Initiative , also known as the Zimbabwe -  Zambia Banana Industrialization Development Initiative
