Creative Liberation
- Pre-Seed
Artisan Hive is a Digital Artisan community that designs hands-on learning environment that develop visionary leaders in Africa. Our students innovate and develop solutions to the problems they face in their own communities in using digital tools to create local manufacturing and production emphasis on local businesses and social impact.
The artisan hive “creative liberation” is a learning framework that provide youths with hands on skills that develop them to visionary leaders and innovators to be able to think creatively and design solutions to the problem they face in their community with a strong focus on social entrepreneurship. 70% of youths in Cameroon are unemployed due to the high mismatch between the skills gained through formal education and the job market and with our 'skill based learning' - SBL framework our students get to gain 21st century hands-on skills that provide them with the skills needed in the job market but more-so with a strong focus on developing innovative ideas into businesses. With our SBL framework we are able to transform the 140 million youth aged 15-35 that are unemployed and the other 140 million youths that are vulnerably employed to become savvy in creative thinking to developing ideas that are potentially to become great enterprises and create jobs and create impact.
Youth unemployment and underemployment in Cameroon is due to the high mismatch between skills needed in the job market and skill developed during formal education. In Cameroon, the youth unemployment rate is at 30% while that of underemployment stands at 75%. Of Africa’s nearly 420 million youth aged 15-35, one-third are unemployed and discouraged, another third are vulnerably employed. This is caused by the mismatch skills that are needed to spark creative thinking in the mind of the young people and Artisan Hive’s creative liberation methodology looks into developing creative thinkers that can innovate and turn community problems into opportunities.

We are targeting to impact 540 youths in our first 2 years that will go to create change in the community. The youths age 14 - 35 will benefit from our service and we target to define a cohort which is perfectly gender balanced. In our third year of existence we plan to deploy the ArtisanHive design lab in three other provinces in Cameroon to test our franchising model for which in and in our 5th year we will franchise the ArtisanHive model interested parties to replicate in every province in Cameroon and to Africa at large.
Track the rate student job placement an also track how many students started entrepreneurial businesses in Cameroon and the world at large. - 540 students trained in the first 2 years
Track and measure the outcome or job and entrepreneurial endeavours by our students and comparing the impact to the initial in the pilot previous year to validate if franchising the ArtisanHive design lab affects the quality of the students trained. - Scale model to 2 more province in Cameroon.
Track the growth and innovative trend of our students and relate it with global trends to building new and innovative ways to guaranteeing first class skill based training. - Franchise the ArtisanHive model while incorporating new technology and approaches to building skill for the next generation

We take practical approaches to learning. We learn by doing as we engage our students to learn practical creative thinking techniques in the field as they solve real community problems with potential to becoming entrepreneurial endeavors. We pride ourselves in using rapid digital machinery to developing new products that go to solve community problem as we wear a mindset that "any problem is an opportunity and we can solve it". Student solve a community problem by using design and creative thinking frameworks to develop products that go to solve a community problem with potential to becoming a business.
Our SBL course is human centered in itself as we design thinking frameworks that focuses on learning practical design skills by engaging in the community to solving the very problems therein. During the 3 months of study at the ArtisanHive design lab, the students are given real community problems to solve as practical approach to utilizing the skills learnt in the SBL course. Our students will be addressing problems in agriculture, health, energy, financial inclusion and many others that are a menace to our community as a human centered approach to developing skills by “making”.
Interested youths can access our services by signing up to ArtisanHive courses in Cameroon during the pilot of through our virtual classroom platform in the subsequent year. We are an open source community and our learning and innovations will be available to the public as we face similar problems around Africa.
As part of our growth plan through franchising of the ArtisanHive model interested youths would be able to access the training content from their respective countries.
An affordable cost of $450 I charged per students 3 moths training for course work and material needed during the 3 months training.

As part of our sustainability plan, we have roll out 3 services that are post generative from its initial stage. We charge $450 per student for the SBL training model for which we can break even. We have also develop strategies that allows AtisanHive to take contracts from industries and cooperate to generating income since our student have the hands-on skills to fulfilling’s contracts. We as ArtisanHive are craftsmen and have already at this stage develop consumer products using that serve as an income generative activity to sustaining and guaranteeing sustainability of ArtisanHive.
A major factor that limits your solution to succeed is the inability to set up the ArtisanHive workshop that has digital manufacturing tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, cnc and workshop tools which are primary tools needed for the youths and students to practical design and manufacture the products that have stem from a community problem they are trying to solve.
