Education is a fundamental human right and an incredibly powerful force. The factors which stop girls and women to take education are: Social and cultural factors, Early marriage, The opportunity cost of school, Lack of separate toilets for girls, Lack of qualified female teachers.
Avatar gives an opportunity to build community learning systems from a built-in curriculum programmed customised in respective local languages with both online and offline applications.
With Avatar, we’re expanding the horizon the way girls and women can learn in a restrictive environment. Our vision is to expand to serve the families and girls where getting basic education is still a major task. No matter what circumstances are with the help of technology and emotional support girls can still access education and improve the situation around them. We help every student understand their potential and motivate them to help others around.
Around the world, 132 million girls are out of school including 34.3 million of primary school age, 30 million of lower-secondary school age, and 67.4 million of upper-secondary school.
When quality education is available, it has the power to break people from the cycle of poverty and reduce inequalities.
Some of the major factors stop stop girls and women to take education are: Social and cultural factors, Early marriage, The opportunity cost of school, Lack of separate toilets for girls, Lack of qualified female teachers.
Being said there are too many conditions when it comes to female education. Lack of community support and opportunities often kill the curiosity amongst these individuals.
Education is also fundamental for a sustainable development, to raise tolerance between people and contribute to more peaceful and egalitarian societies.
Artificial Intelligence finds here great potential to reinforce education systems and knowledge dissemination. To exponentially expand access to information and provide basic to advanced quality and effective learning. AI can play a vital role to democratise education and ensure a more effective service provision.
Avatar has three major components:
1. Connecting students with an application which provides them with a built in curriculum in their local language which they can access anytime even when there are connectivity issues. The solar powered devices will make the device accessible during uncertain situations as well.
2. Avatar also enables students to add other profiles of their friends or other members of the family who are willing to learn and help them share the learning experience within the community as well. The connectivity option encourages the girls to share and motivate their friends in an encouraging way possible.
3. AI and Machine learning helps in identifying the students' learning styles and difficulties. It also helps to improve excellence to expand learning pathways while other external factors disrupting the learning process.
Avatar mainly aims to focus on the girls who wish to study but lack community motivation and opportunities. The offline built in material and solar battery system will also provide access in uncertain locations. Multiple user option helps to share the device amongst the community and can encourage peer to peer learning. The AI can be sensitive enough to understand the external factors influencing the learners pace and emotions.
