Setting up of a home for young girls that have gone through the trauma of sexual assaults taking care of them medically and psychologically .

Providing the basic comfort of life for them while living in safety in a home away from home surrounding among peers and from further threats

The model of refuge home can be set up anywhere in the world as long as there are people with genuine passion and compassion who would like to see to the ending of the suffering of this young girls.

What specific problem are you solving?

The challenge mostly facing this young girls and at times their mothers is not knowing where to run to for help. They will have us to run to.

One cannot put a figure to this but in the news as of two days ago the Inspector General of the Police said this year alone 776 rapists have been arrested not counting fathers step fathers/daughters, uncles/nieces and family rapes Note it was arrest and not prosecuted that the IGP mentioned. We will see to the prosecution of and rapists caught by employing lawyers to prosecute them and discourage families of victims from getting behind the door settlements because of stigmatisation of the victims. Just in an area of one of the cities I live in named Ibadan 7 young girls were raped and four of them killed after being raped between 9th - 13th June 2020.

What is your solution?

My solution uses no technology but human compassion and love being the voice and strength of the voiceless and the weak. So I intend setting up a refuge home for this sexually assaulted young girls that will give them a sense of being with family that love and care for them while protecting them from further harm.

Their education and vocational training will be paramount so they know that life has not come to an end for them and they can look forward to a glorious future.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Young girls between the ages of 3years to 20years. This are the vulnerable ones that are mostly victims of rape assault within and outside their family circle. They are viciously preyed on sexually by male family members and outsiders. Those falling into the vicious hands of outsiders ate mostly those doing street hawking to support whatever little family income their fathers and mothers can provide.

The world need more girls in school to give them a better fighting chance in their struggles to survive in a world already skewed against them especially in Africa and Nigeria in particular. Then some mentally sick men add to their problems by raping them putting them in perpetual state fear and psychological trauma for live even forcing some into prostitution and the ultimate defeat of suicide by some of them for no sin of theirs. Getting them into safety in time and sending them to school will improve their chances of survival.
