Female youth unemployment is high even though young females tend to engage in home-making activities and other miscellaneous chores more than males. Kenya faces a significant unemployment problem that affects young people. Youth unemployment rates are several times higher than the rates among adults and particularly among females. As young people grow up, they stop depending on other people’s income and become independent. During their transition from childhood to adulthood, access to good jobs of acceptable quality is essential for youth to acquire independence from their parents, brighten their prospects in the job market and enhance their prospects of forming a family. The capacity to create formal jobs has fluctuated over time; declining growth rates have also implied decreasing rates of formal job creation. The most pressing challenge is to provide jobs for young women aged between 18 and 25 years.
Provision of training in hospitality. The course will be composed of skills required for employment in housekeeping and cookery skills. There has been a growing demand for skilled workers in the domestic industry in Kenya.
I would like to train young women and girls from KIAMBU county,Kenya IN A local slum known as Kiamburi. This slum has about 500 hundred marginalized familiesThese families are poor and each of them has young woman and girls who have no skills for employment.Due to this identified problem the families cannot afford their basic needs and live in very poor conditions.
I advise them on the basic courses they should take and also give them casual jobs from time to time.Once they get the skill training they will be able to access the job industry.
- Increase the number of girls and young women participating in formal and informal learning and training
Female and young women unemployment is a major problem in Kenya.Once they are unable to further their education young girls get married at a very early age. They are unable to get any meaningful employment due to lack of skill. The training will impact the skills needed for employment.
