Inner Voice Nepal
We aim to foresee the comprehensive measures contributing to enhance education and create a platform to aware girls about sexual and reproductive health from the most rural and most trafficking prone areas of Nepal.
Human trafficking is one of the most concerning issues in the context of Nepal. Nepal’s National Human Right Commission’s (NHRC) most recent trafficking in persons report indicates that 78 per cent of identified victims of trafficking in 2017/2018 were female and 25 per cent were children. Mostly, all the female are pushed down on being Female Sex Workers. With more, trafficking is leading to HIV/AIDS and also teen pregnancy in the context of Nepal as 40 to 60 per cent of the female are under the age 19.
We aim to foresee the comprehensive measures contributing to enhance education and create a platform to aware girls about sexual and reproductive health from the most rural and most trafficking prone areas of Nepal. We plan to train volunteers and provide them essential knowledge about sexual and reproductive health so that they can go to the rural areas and provide awareness likewise.
The connection between trafficking, HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy are older men, termed “sugar daddies” who often target young girl mostly from vulnerable families. They are lured for financial benefit and are sold to open borders or urban cities. Poverty, unemployment and low literacy were recognized as the main contextual determinants for trafficking among adolescent girls.
- Increase the number of girls and young women participating in formal and informal learning and training
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community
- A new business model or process
We plan to involve Bachelor’s students from social work background. They will be divided into three groups with each group lead by our team member. Our main focus as stated above is to reach the most rural and vulnerable parts of the country as they still lack basic facilities/infrastructures like proper; transportation, health facilities, schools and collages etc.
Our team plans to provide awareness amongst the schools from the most rural areas of Nepal. We are planning to target at least 65 girls each day from Sunday to Friday in regards to awareness on sexual and reproductive health. This awareness program will last for 3 months in various rural, most vulnerable and trafficking prone areas throughout the country.
