Addressing the youth unemployment requires understanding that, once given an opportunity, young people have the capacity to obtain a livelihood for themselves and their families and have a voice in local governance. It is, therefore, critical to formulate the programs that create the needed opportunities to support Kenyan youth in achieving meaningful and fulfilling life. KEYS is committed to address these outcomes through the creation of income generation opportunities among the youth.
The specific problem being solved is Youth Unemployment, Poverty & Hunger. Final objective thereby being, creating increased income for the youth and ultimately creation of a self-sufficient civil society with equal justice, eradication and end of poverty and hunger.
The Kenyan Constitution defines youth as young people between the ages of 18 and 34. The group constitutes about 55 percent of the labor force yet 85 percent of Kenya’s total population of unemployed.
As the research indicates, the youth make up a greater share of the Kenyan population, and more of them enter the ranks of the unemployed. The problem of the youth unemployment creates the emergence of negative feelings of exclusion, rejection, relative deprivation, humiliation, victimization, injustice, frustrations
Factors contributing the youth unemployment, poverty & hunger are lack of skilled education that allows the youth to inject themselves in the economy. By acquiring the skilled education the at risk youth through enrollment/reinstatement with full paid tuition into the educational facilities and skill center institutions, will allow the youth to acquire the necessary skills that are the Keys to successful change in their lives and the communities they live in.
The Solution of youth unemployment, poverty and huger is through enrollment and reinstatement into the educational technical skills to provide the youth with necessary educational skills to obtain employment for the youth and of increased income for the youth and ultimately creation of a self-sufficient civil society with equal justice, eradication and end of poverty and hunger.
KEYS offers at-risk youth the opportunity to make a dramatic change in their lives. Once the full tuition is accessible, the skilled education programs are positioned to be most accessible to young people who otherwise would be swept into being beach boys, prostitution, victims of sex trafficking, drug use winding up in the court system
