In the name of knowledge

Throughout history, women have achieved the merit of gaining prominence, even if slowly and gradually, within their communities. One of these achievements was the right to education, despite this, the number of women and girls who are increasingly distant from any form of education and learning is increasing.We intend to create an organization in which women and girls from marginalized communities can have access to books, computers with internet, literacy programs, and classroom courses included in the Software created by us. And also, helping them to be decided in their lives and professional careers so that they make a difference not only in their communities but also in the world.On a global scale, the realization of the project would bring benefits to the population in general, as it causes considerable improvements in the lifestyle of families from the woman who would bring the knowledge absorbed into her home.

We are willing to resolve the precarious or non-existent access of marginalized women and girls to basic and constructive education. In our city and country, it is noticeable the difficulty of public schools to conduct and uniformly cover basic and even advanced education, it is common for students to pass without even knowing how to read and write (the basics). Because of this fact, many girls give up their school and intellectual life for not obtaining development and encouragement through such a system.

According to PISA 2018 Brazil (our country) is among one of the worst places in Reading, Mathematics, and Science. Our organization intends to work around this situation independently, giving more opportunities for development and encouraging school attendance to girls and women benefited through us, forming people capable of “succeed in life”. It is important to note that this project can be adapted to different situations according to each country or city and the availability of school access.

Create an organization that promotes access to technology, quality education, and books. This would happen through voluntary and also hired people who would register through an online platform developed by us to help in teaching, donating books, equipment, or monetary values to contribute to the organization.

This organization would be responsible for taking women and their communities to a place, like a school, where they could have access to socialization first, psychological and emotional support, welcoming the target audience, trying to understand and accept them since many of them they go through unimaginable and extremely vulnerable situations.

After working their emotional we would go to the educational phase. First, women and girls would be literate and, after that, they would start studying science, other areas of knowledge and personal evolution courses, involving the traditional way of teaching and also the technological way, since this space would also be equipped with the educational software that will be developed by us.

In summary, the software planned by us is equipped with artificial intelligence and its main features are programs also developed by us that will contain dynamics that will help in learning. 

Our solution is for girls and women who are destitute in their communities and who have little or no access to any form of learning and personal development aiming at their intellectual advancement so that they are successful in their lives, improve the world around them, help develop their communities and expand knowledge, in addition to forming determined and confident girls. This will make a difference not only in their lives but also in the lives of those they live with, showing that education is the basis for the formation of a society.We are doing this project through reports from people who have already done some kind of work in marginalized communities and also from our perceptions to better understand their needs and what aspects would impact their lives, so we develop the main characteristics of our organization and what will be needed to solve the educational problems of such communities.

The problem we are trying to solve is the lack of quality public education for marginalized communities, which directly affects the population of such areas, which in turn has drastic consequences for life. Public education in our country has several failures that cause intellectual retardation to the individual, making learning and enthusiasm for knowledge difficult, which together with the lack of incentive, causes school dropout. In general, our goal is to bring encouragement and education to such communities in a spontaneous way so that they are fulfilled in their intellectual and professional lives.

The main technology that will enhance our solution will be a software developed by us that will be adapted with AI (artificial intelligence). In our Software, we will have a program in which we will cover the main aspects necessary for a quality education that will intensify learning. Before the Software starts to be used, through artificial intelligence, through a questionnaire, we will outline approximately the profile of each student. It will also be possible to do predictive analysis to project statistics. We highlight the following aspects:

• Literacy: In the Software produced by us we will have the literacy section (which will be done 50% in a traditional way and 50% in a technological way), where we will have games, exercises and video lessons that will contribute to learning and make it lighter
• Virtual library: Access to online libraries will be made available which, in addition to adding knowledge, help to develop good reading, improve focus, concentration and relieve stress.
• Video lessons (from local volunteers and other locations): Video lessons are a tool that reinforces the knowledge acquired and can clarify remaining doubts. It is important tomention that even people from other locations may be volunteers (mainly teachers) through our platform. We will also add, chatbot for questions using AI.
• Educational exercises: One of the main means to fix learned content is the resolution of exercises, on the platform designed by us, we will grant access to exercises (including personalized ones).

Our solution does not yet serve people as it is just a project. In one year we intend to serve around 150 (or more) people divided, by age group, in the literacy category. We also intend to serve more people in other areas of the courses that we will provide. To define the base of how many people we will be receiving in 5 years, we developed a geometric progression of ratio 3 (q = 3) from the base of the number of people in the first year of the organization, which leads us to have at least a total 12,150 literate people and we intend to have the least possible losses. According to a survey carried out by the newspaper “acritica.com” on 08/09/2019, there are about 35,000 illiterates in the capital where our project is located, after 5 years we would have literate the equivalent of 34.7% of the total, taking into account the research done in 2019.

For the next year, the objective is to carry out the project with the definitive establishment of the website, the construction of the software, and the first physical space for welcoming and face-to-face teaching of women and girls, and the inauguration with the beginning of services. Over the course of five years, the expectation is to expand the number of people benefited and to other reception spaces in other locations close to marginalized communities in other cities, regions, and other countries. As mentioned in the last topic, the statistics indicate the literacy of at least 34.7% of the illiterate population in the initial location only and may have a greater number of women and girls from other locations. The tools that will lead us to these results will be the website - which will publicize the project and raise funds to enable the construction of new units and is where the participation of educators volunteers and/or interested in the work will make their registration; the software - which will be the main medium through which the literacy and teaching of these women will take place; and the physical space, where these people will be encouraged to study and conquer their independent future, in addition to being able to help each other.

The main problem we currently face is project financing and legal issues why we are minors. As we are in the early stages of the project, it is difficult to find investors who trust that it will work, so financing is our main barrier.

3 people work on our solution team. Because we are high school students and have many activities to do, for now, we cannot work fully on the project, we produce according to our availability. Over time we intend to increase our team.

Our team is well positioned because we are teenagers willing to make a difference in the place which we live, through what we see around us, we realize the calamity of education in our country and we are committed to sharing all of our knowledge (each one on its specialty) and the knowledge of other people who will be part of our organization with the people who will benefit through us, preparing them for a world of achievements and changes through learning.
