Shared Vision
In the developing world, there is gender inequality which leads to a stunted future and violence; girls who cannot become part of the future. As the GDP per capita rate gets lower there is a higher ratio of male to female tertiary enrollment. Sub Saharan Africa has a GDP per capita rate of about 1,000 and their male to female ratio is 2:0 all the way to 4:0. For every 4 men there are zero women working. We motivate young women to aspire to be doctors/scientists. We teach them about the new advances in medicine, starting with hereditary blindness research. This provides them with a chance to give back to their communities while also securing future jobs--offering them a future that they might never have. Shared Vision will give the world more doctors, scientists and inventors for these poor communities where it is needed the most.
In developing countries there is a greater percentage of male physicians versus female physicians. This is why Africa has one doctor for every 5000 people. This has to change. Lack of opportunities and certain restrictive practices must be addressed and adjusted. For example, 12 million girls under 18 are married each year in sub-Saharan Africa. Child marriage often results in early pregnancy and social isolation, interrupts schooling, and increases risk of domestic violence against young women. These situations severely limit young women’s opportunities and learning abilities. This is why in the African regions 28% of the physicians are female while 72% are male. The pattern continues in other regions with South East Asia having 39% female and 61% male, and the Western Pacific Region having 41% female and 59% male. Shared Vision teaches young women about the future of medicine, so they can be an active part of their community, opening their eyes to the possibility of being doctors; giving them the ability to have a say in their own future. If we show them that they can do it then they are less likely to go along with constricting societal customs.
A network of friendship and Shared Vision makes it possible for teenagers in the developing world to believe in themselves and gain the confidence to be able to want to take a medical path, so needed in their communities and the world. Shared Vision is an online international group dynamic that allows girls to discuss all aspects of the medical world. The girls in developing nations will form their own groups and log into the Shared Vision website to discuss a new medical topic each week with Shared Vision Headquarters (made up of girls from all over the world who are super passionate about sharing knowledge, ideas and friendship). Each month these separate groups on opposite sides of the world will get the opportunity to discuss their ideas all together in a multi-group chat; while asking questions and developing people skills, enhancing their knowledge on different medical aspects, encouraging them to become doctors. An example of a problem Shared Vision will discuss is hereditary blindness. Some 90% of blindness occurs in developing countries. Our sisterhood will also address medical topics like CRISPR, genetics, malaria, polluted water, malnourishment, female health, environmental issues, sanitation and diseases. Shared Vision builds confidence and hope.
Shared Vision will serve teenage girls from developing nations in order to help them gain the opportunity to be able to participate in the medical field. The young women who are in these developing nations do not have dreams to get away from where they live and if they do have these dreams they are shut down immediately by the pressures of their society. They are not expected to be doctors and are instead expected to be housewives because it's all that they have been exposed to and it's all that they can afford. Each time Shared Vision engages with the young women it will give them a chance to voice what topic they want to discuss and what topic is most prevalent in their society. The next week, after taking into account the needs of the girls, Shared Vision will choose the topic that the majority of the girls have requested. The more they learn, the more open they are to the medical field and the more they will want to pursue opportunities outside of their societies expectations. This helps break the endless cycle of poverty and missed opportunities, showing women that they can be part of the future.
- Increase the number of girls and young women participating in formal and informal learning and training
Shared Vision offers an informal learning, training and mutual support program for girls in the developing world. Shared Vision not only reaches out to girls that are in school but also focuses on those in danger of leaving school without completion and girls who do not go to school at all. This increases the number of young women that are learning within their society. Shared Vision teaches the young women about the important aspects of the medical field and trains them to enter or reenter higher learning in the field as well.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
- A new business model or process
Our innovation is the dreams, connection and future we create for everyone in Shared Vision. It is unique due to the fact that the girls can create friendships with others around the world while also learning about different aspects of the medical field. It is a more dynamic discussion driven program, where the girls learn how to voice their ideas and opinions rather than learning from a tutorial video. Shared Vision allows the young women to engage peer to peer. Shared Vision is guiding them with topics and assistance but not leading them. Though there is no set curriculum, we will introduce topics that are emerging and very needed in the coming medical revolution. The girls decide what they think is important for them to learn rather than us teaching them things that are not relevant to their societies and their own lives. This gives them the chance to voice their own opinions and broaden their knowledge. This gives them the opportunity to explore and to dream that they too can live a dignified life.
The core technology is the creativity, connectivity, curiosity and imagination that the girls have within themselves. It is also the core friendships that the girls create through Shared Vision which gives them the ability to imagine themselves as doctors. This instills a sense of independence and community because they are able to advance together with their studies as a group of girls rather than alone with a pre-set curriculum that may not address their needs and aspirations. Members of Shared Vision need only a simple computer to access our website. Once they login, they will be able to find a time that the group discussion is being held at and the meeting ID. On the website there will also be a live interactive question and answer page where the girls can ask questions and the other Shared Vision members can answer them. There would also be an interactive library where Shared Vision members will be able to write articles and share ideas about certain topics in the medical field that other members can access.
We as human beings grow best in a safe community setting where we have input from many different individuals and a place to express our own voice. A friendly group environment allows one to learn and expand their knowledge at a greater rate. Now more than ever school groups, and sport teams are learning and practicing in the virtual world. And this has proven effective to impart knowledge and also to keep team spirit. The Shared Vision website mimics this team spirit and knowledge learning not only bringing together girls that would never get the chance to meet, but also giving them the ability to share their ideas with each other.

My theory of change is that it is important that one uses their opportunities and passions to help others who are not as fortunate reach the same level of opportunities. In order to advance in the future the developing nations there needs to be an increase in the amount of doctors; this is why it is crucial to educate girls within developing nations about the medical field and why Shared Vision is so needed. More people educated in the medical field will allow for more innovations and quality care in the future, which will lead to healthier communities, while advancing the medical field at a greater rate.
Shared Vision will change the way that young women view themselves. They will realize that they can be more than what society expects them to be. They can have dreams of their own and get places in life, while making an impact on the world. The women can then become a part of the future and give back to their communities in need.

Right now we are beginning our outreach to potential groups and young women all over the world, so the number is not concrete. In 1 year we hope to have 5 countries that use the Shared Vision program. In 5 years we hope to have thousands of people utilizing the Shared Vision program.
For the first year, we want to have the groups in place and we want each young woman that is involved in the program to benefit from it. While we are helping them grow they will help us grow as well. We want multiple groups set up that are able to regularly discuss with each other and are able to learn from each other as well. We also want to popularize the website within the community activist groups all over the developing world-- so that other teenagers can have access to the safe bridge we offer leading to a more hope-filled future. In the next five years we want to change the mindsets of numerous teenage girls in developing countries. We want girls in the program to share their experiences with others so that more girls realize that there are opportunities for them.
Social-- We must overcome or diminish the negative stigma around girls who don't follow societal norms. They may not even be able to join the program which is why we need to smooth the transition into Shared Vision.
Financial/Technical-- Girls in developing nations who need the most education may not even have computers or wifi which are the resources that are needed to join Shared Vision.
Young women in developing nations may be more open to the idea of Shared Vision if a few individuals from their society join the program and enjoy the experience. The impact of Shared Vision and the experiences that it provides girls will hopefully travel through word of mouth, getting more young people on board.
To help girls in developing nations get the resources they need to do this, we can ask https://www.fsicon.com for help.
Shared Vision will produce confidence within the girls so that they have the ability to follow their passions instead of following societal norms. It will also give the girls the ability to voice their experiences to other girls in their society so that more girls will be interested in being a member of Shared Vision.

There are two people currently working on the solution team.
I have a family history of undetected hereditary blindness and if there were more doctors then a cure for this macular degeneration could have been found. Shared Vision will foster the next generation of scientists, engineers and medical researchers who will be ready to not only solve hereditary blindness issues but also solve many other global environmental and medical issues as well. I am in tune with my generation so Shared Vision is in a unique position to build collaborations and unity, as only together can we face and contribute to a better way of life on planet earth.
We are currently linking with community activists and doctors all over the world.
We are Open Science, equal access, and free platform. We are offering an online community based learning program run by peers in order to help young women and girls in developing nations. A network does not exist where individuals who do not have equal access to education have the opportunity to learn in a school environment. This is because of poverty, social stress, and abuse that many young women and girls face in their societies.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
We are open to grants and partnerships, but we are a people driven organization that will fund itself as we connect with increased young people.
We have found a disparity and want to fix problems stunting the growth of the world as a whole. By hindering young women's education opportunities we are not utilizing all the intelligence that we can to progress aspects of society.
- Marketing, media, and exposure
We are currently reaching out to community activists in India and in Egypt to begin the first prototype groups that will link to us and begin group discussions via Discord https://discord.com This will allow Shared Vision to become a reality.
Any organization that shares our vision and wants to support our cause.
I am in the middle of a generation that is being asked to solve global problems as no generation has been asked to solve before and I am building togetherness to be the first steps into saving the planet. We will develop more links to the refugee communities so no matter where they are they will have access to shared vision. We will help them receive the technologies to become part of the community and receive education.
Shared Vision is for the betterment of young women. We will use the prize to advocate for more women to join our project. This is increase the amount if young women gaining education and will allow them to get jobs. We will also use the money to provide technologies to young women in rural areas who do not have access to them.
We are involved in the development of the potential of young women all over the world. We provide them with education so that they can escape their constricting societal norms. We will use the prize to integrate more young women into our program and raise awareness about the necessity for Shared Vision.
