Preskriber™
Preskriber™ is making it easy for people in Africa to access healthcare starting with Nigeria. Only about 6% of Nigerians have health insurance and Preskriber™ will change that narrative by ensuring that the vulnerable have access to free or discounted health insurance plans in partnership with approved insurance companies.
Preskriber™ will ensure that the terms and conditions of the health insurance plans are fulfilled by our Health Management Organization partners.
Preskriber™ is a patient centric and market driven approach. This means that the patients alway have alternatives and choice, such that the ''money'' goes with the patient.
Preskriber™ has premium services that enhances transparency and enables healthcare providers to collaborate to serve patients better.
Healthcare delivery in Nigeria and the entire sub-Sahara Africa is struggling. Worst still are the vulnerable groups which includes children, women, people with special needs etc.
In Nigeria only about 6% of her 200million population has a health insurance and the reasons are (i) bulk of the people are still unaware, (ii) Low Trust (iii) Lack of innovative strategies (iv) Financial capacity of many poor Nigerians
In addition the existing providers coverage are limited to urban centers with reports of insincerity of the providers.
Preskriber™ innovates to solves these challenges through its integrated health-tech features with health financing as the key offerings, plus sustainability and corporate governance as key drivers to delivering value and quality.
Preskriber is a Platform as a Service (PAAS), available on the web and will have a mobile version soonest. It is simply a platform where anyone can go and find approved Doctors, Hospitals, Labs and Diagnostics, Ambulance Services and medicines (both prescription and OTCs) and Health insurance plans of our HMO partners, with discounts offered by Preskriber.
On the website, you can ''Enroll for a free Healthcare Insurance'' which helps track those who need help, or you can buy directly from the discounted plans available in the marketplace.
We will use agency arrangements and partnership with hospitals and pharmacy outlets to gather information and to onboard our target group.
Preskriber will include a USSD module to improve the channels to access free or discounted Health Insurance Plan
Our strategy is to make the patient/customer the center of attraction and have the providers compete to serve them. Thus, through our business model, we will fund healthcare Insurance plans for people with preference for the vulnerable ones, either fully or partially.
We will ensure customer satisfaction of our insured patients, and encourage use of healthcare services through scheduled reminders.
The target population are the poor and ordinary Nigerians who are not covered by corporate insurance or any other form of health insurance, however, preference will be given to vulnerable groups such as children, women, people with special needs etc.
Identifying these vulnerable groups will be through partnerships and marketing. In Lagos, we have already visited a number of hospitals and interacted with providers and we see that financing is the most important thread for all the stakeholders. So we decided, let the money follow the ''patient''.
Our target is to fund health insurance for 1% of the population of each African market that we enter with aspirations for higher percentage funding. So in Nigeria, we look to fund health insurance for 2million people either fully or partially in the next two years.
Securing health insurance for people will enable them access healthcare for free from a market approach, ensuring that they are aware of their benefits and following up on that the terms of their insurance plan will enhance satisfaction and sustainability.
The long term objective is to have governments and other stakeholders fund healthcare cover for people directly, either partially or wholly through Preskriber.
- Expand access to high-quality, affordable care for women, new mothers, and newborns
Preskriber generally supports all the dimensions stated in the challenge, from a financing point of view by enabling these women and children to be fully covered in their respective insurance plans, which we strive to offer for a free or a discounted amount.
Specifically, Preskriber can expand access to high-quality, affordable care for women, new mothers and newborns as they are perfect fit for our vulnerable target group to fund.
Furthermore, Preskriber will ensure that the terms of the health insurance cover are fulfilled and respected while the health insurance holder is supported and educated on the benefits included.

Preskriber™ health-tech aim to solve the same problem many other health tech solutions are trying to solve, however Preskriber's™ approach is what makes it unique and innovative. Rather than focus on the Healthcare providers, Preskriber focuses on the ''patient'' by tackling their biggest threat to accessing healthcare which is financing. Preskriber™ allows the Health providers to access free services and premium service, while increasing the amount of insured patients that can seek care from them.
Our approach of making the patient the attraction point by offering free insurance or reduced prices uniquely give us the advantage to locking the Health providers into accessing patients on Preskriber and using our premium services.
Health insurance are already very interested in partnering with us simply because they need more customers and we are providing that. All their existing hospitals will end up using Preskriber in order to access patients across different health insurance providers.
Preskriber will own the patients technically and ensure they are well served amongst these healthcare providers. The health financing model in Nigeria can then be argued for a change where everyone goes to pick a plan for themselves through our discounted mechanism.
Preskriber™ is a digital solution built as a PaaS with PHP, and Laravel framework. It is a cloud solution hosted on AWS with elastic capacity for large number of people. We followed HIPAA guidelines and encrypted the application.
