Medicliqs
Medicliqs is a web and mobile platform designed to enable prompt and easy access to blood, vaccines and other medical products by hospitals and patients. It also encompasses prompt access to health care professionals where people can easily make inquiry regarding health-related issue. We are tackling blood shortage issue by also running blood banks in areas that no blood bank exists and giving easy access to lifesaving medical products.
Our innovation will solve the problem posed by shortage of blood supply currently plaguing hospitals, especially those located in remote areas, without access to emergency medical supply.
We have a database of voluntary donors that can be accessed via request on our online platform. Hospitals and patients can specifically request for blood, vaccines, pharmaceutical products using our database across Africa.
We get the medical product that has been requested and get it delivered promptly through our logistics system.
Problem:
Most hospitals in Africa experience shortage of blood supply. Shortage of blood supply can be a source of stress to patients especially pregnant women that are set to deliver or waiting to undergo a caesarian section as well as their relatives who are in need of safe blood products. Any delay in the supply of blood products can lead to loss of life. Hospitals with blood bank service often require replacement donors before releasing blood products to patients.
Some hospitals especially in remote areas lack access to medical products necessary for management of certain disease conditions for instance, emergency vaccines like tetanus toxoid for pregnant women, antivenom, steroids and other emergency drugs.
Some remote areas lack access to primary healthcare and sometimes the distance to tertiary or primary care center is far making pregnant women resort to delivering their babies at home and use of concocted herbal mixtures. This lack of healthcare access can lead to complications for both mother and child.
We run a database of voluntary blood donors across Africa which hospitals and patients can access via request on the platform.
Hospitals and patients can also request for blood products from our database of blood banks across Africa.
Through our database of registered and accredited pharmaceutical companies/pharmacies across Africa starting from Nigeria, hospitals can request for certain vaccines and emergency drugs.
Through our telemedicine services, people can access healthcare through the mobile and web platforms. We also deploy trained and certified health workers like nurses to remote areas and strategic areas where women lack access to healthcare and we use the telemedicine approach to attend to them.
We deliver medical products through our fast and safe logistics system using drones and cold chain transport systems.
The innovation is targeted to assist hospitals (public and private), maternity centers, patients, people residing in remote areas especially pregnant women that are unable to access healthcare. The development of this innovation is born out of what we see women go through before childbirth, during childbirth, caesarian section. Some of the women are school dropouts, neglected and do not have families to take care of them during pregnancy and funny enough, the kind of stress they go through to access lifesaving products is enormous and that is what we are trying to solve.
The innovation will be efficient as a result of our quality approach to providing easy and prompt accessibility to blood products, drugs and other medical products through robust sourcing of relevant products and donors. Existing method is highly laborious, expensive and stressful for patients and their relatives as they are in continuous search for suitable blood donors with attendant delay in offering the best treatment to patients. Blood is life. Any delay in getting it may lead to loss of life. We use a robust logistics system like drone and cold chain transport systems to quickly deliver medical products to hospitals and consults patients with telemedicine.
- Expand access to high-quality, affordable care for women, new mothers, and newborns
Generally women face a lot of challenges in accessing quality healthcare. For pregnant women especially, they need to make adequate provision for people to pre-donate blood for them before childbirth and also in emergency cases, blood transfusion intervention may be needed. Getting the right and safe blood is quite laborious for such patients. Children also need blood in emergencies and the inability to get such at the right time can lead to loss of life. This innovation will bridge such gap. Offering of our telemedicine services through our deployed health workers will help women that are unable to access healthcare.

We get the medical product that has been requested and get it delivered promptly through our logistics system. Existing companies only run blood banks, pharmacy without putting how patients get blood and drugs in place especially in remote areas far away from any tertiary hospital.
The project uses drones for delivery of medical products, telemedicine to consult patients, web and mobile platforms.
The approach is being used by Zipline in the US and Rwanda. The approach will help in achieving the goal of the company to deliver products promptly and provide easy accessibility to health professionals.

Pregnant women, children, accident victims go through a lot go through a lot to get the right type of donor or blood for replacement in hospital blood banks. Sometimes, this hospitals run short of blood and certain emergency products. Inability to promptly access this things may lead to loss of life. Recently a woman died of snake bite just because the accessed hospital did not have the right type of vaccine for the snake bite. If there had been a solution like we are proferring, the woman's life would have been preserved. We are targeting hospitals in collaboration with public and private health institutions.
