Humanitree is a mobile app that allows anyone to easily sponsor a child's education, which provides partnering organizations a platform to manage and communicate with donors.
Funding is a major factor when addressing the problem of quality education for disadvantaged youth. Many are forced to discontinue their education journey due to financial constraints.
Studies done on child sponsorship program prove that it is an effective method to increase participation and completion rate of formal education among disadvantaged youths, which ultimately render them better job/work opportunity.
However, such programs are high in cost - from fundraising to logistics of providing report. Many local, grass-root NGOs and orphanages don't have the technology and capacity to scale (or even well-manage) their child sponsorship program.
Humanitree aims to provide a cost-efficient and scalable platform for these local, grass-root NGOs to find sponsors and manage communication and reporting for them.
Our mobile-first approach aims to make it simple, easy and fast for anyone in the world to become a child sponsor and engage with the child (and organization) they support all in one seamless application.
While we are planning to start the pilot with partner organizations based in Indonesia, the long-term goal is to partner with organizations from all across the world to fulfill our mission of giving every single children their right of getting quality education and forming borderless relationship between the sponsor and the child.

Our project leader Reky Martha cofounded and run an NGO in Jogjakarta, Indonesia who runs a child sponsorship program for over 10 years called Hoshizora.
The organization has helped 500+ children graduated from high school / vocational study and receive better work opportunity. More than money, Hoshizora also provides holistic mentorship for the children to help them learn soft skills and develop self-awareness.
We believe if we can scale the impact of what Hoshizora and other similar organizations have made, it can accelerate the process of providing equal access to quality education for disadvantaged youths.
The main target outcome is for existing organizations running long-term child sponsorship program to be able to receive a cost-efficient way to get sponsors which give them the ability to deliver better program for the child, as well as better experience to the sponsor through technological platform.
On the other hand, we aim to make child sponsorship a popular and preferred charity method among the middle-up millennials, as popular as subscription to entertainment services like Netflix and Spotify.
Measure with pilot partner organization whether this method help them scale up, reduce cost, and engage with larger sponsors. - Provide cost-efficient and scalable platform for partner organizations who work directly in the field.
Get 100,000 people sponsoring a child via the app. - Make child sponsorship a popular and preferred charity method for middle-up millennials.

While many technology company provides CRM and dashboard for the nonprofit sector, Humanitree goes the other direction and become a consumer-facing app.
With this strategy, our goal is to deliver the most delightful user experience to the users (sponsors) so that they will both have longer retention and higher rate of referral (inviting their peer network to participate).
In doing so, we hope to significantly increase engagement with sponsors and reduce the cost of fundraising and operations for partnering organizations who work directly in the field.
Humanitree app is focused on two main user type: sponsor and partner organizations.
For sponsor, the Humanitree app focus on simplicity and ease of use, while delivering surprise elements in the form of rich story and reports from the sponsored child.
Conversely, on top of getting a more affordable channel to get sponsors, organizations also get a scalable platform to manage their children & sponsor relationship, and delivering quality report and story.
