Mex4Industry
There is currently a large talent gap in digital skills, more than 50% of companies in LATAM mention that it is difficult to find talent in these areas. This lag in trained human resources leads us to a slow development of technologies, and as a result, there is no investment promotion in these areas.
1) First we start interviewing companies to understand their present and future talent needs, 2) second we develop study plans to adress relevant skills on demand, 3) we partner with universities to bring this knowledge, 4) through blended (online and in person) bootcamps with duration from 3 to 20 weeks we develop skills for jobs of the future (dataanalytics and machinelearning), 5) Talent pool of our alumni to bring them closer to companies seeking their talent.
We can multiply the average income of the LATAM people of by 3x.
The population of LATAM and the Caribbean as of today (March, 2020) is more than 652 million people, and according to the WEF, it is the community with the largest talent gap. So we are talking about millions of affected people, mainly young people who do not finish their professional studies and those professionals who feel like opsolets in a digital age.
The main effects that contribute to the shortage of digital talent are:
1.- A detachment from the real needs of the industry to employ people with skills of high added value.
2.- Universities do not move fast enough to develop plans tailored to work needs. The curricula of the universities usually last 5 years, too long, it must have an iteration and continuous improvement.
3.- The experts who apply the knowledge daily do not teach, there are teachers who know how to teach but have never applied it.
4.- There is no Life-long learning culture in companies.
Within our solution there are four main actors: Companies, experts, universities, and students.
1.- Companies: We approach the main industries in the region to know their main needs and from them develop study programs to supply the demand.
2.- Experts: Once we have the study plans tailored, we look for experts who apply this knowledge daily with at least 3 years of experience.
3.-Universities: We partner with leading universities to implement our curricula through intensive bootcamps of 3 to 20 weeks duration that use blended methodologies (elearning + face-to-face).
4.- Students (recent graduates and employees): We educate our students and monitor them to better understand what is the best way of learning to deliver the greatest possible value and reduce the learning curve as much as possible. In the end, they enter a talent pool to be hired.
Our service is the development of agile educational plans to cover the skills needed by local industries that seek to implement and develop digital transformation technologies. We deliver this through blended bootcamps, which involve self-learning through our eLearning platform where we have curated content to give our students a specific career path.
The processes we use are 4:
1.- Development process: We approach the industry to find out its needs. From this, we investigate the state of the art of teaching and apply the most relevant topics to develop our own study plan.
2.- Sales process: Focused on developing awareness on the most relevant topics, we generate content to raise awareness among future students, we take them through our sales funnel, until the enrollment is finalized.
3.- Operation process: Focused on the development of logistics and accompaniment of students to deliver the best learning experience. We seek the generation of community and mutual aid.
4.- Continuous improvement process: We seek positional talent once graduated, for this we evaluate the students and seek their feedback to measure our performance, and improve for the next course.
- Support and build the capacity of formal and informal educators to better prepare Latin American and Caribbean learners of all ages for the jobs of today and tomorrow
- Utilize data to better understand employer needs and better inform policy, resource allocation, and skills of the future
- Pilot
Our innovation is in two areas:
1.- How we develop the content and study plan: We call on knowing the skills that will guarantee the employability of our students.
2.- Our business model: Instead of having universities as competitors, we make them allies, since by joining them we generate a new revenuew stream and we leverage their brand to position our educational offer.
Activities: Focus the effort on knowing the real needs of the industry to develop curricula with relevant skills.
Outputs: Students will win competitions that will improve their employability.
Short Term Outcomes: Students improve their quality of life by obtaining better jobs, companies begin to fill the digital talent gap.
Long Term Outcomes: LATAM will have a digital workforce that will help develop a knowledge-based economy by raising the average level of well-being, reducing unemployment, and reducing crime.

Currently we have educated 170 people through 8 bootcamps.
In one year, by partnering with 10 universities and implementing digital bootcamps, we hope to impact 10.00 people.
In 5 years we hope to have more than 100 partner universities and impact more than 1 million people.
Over the next year we will continue to collect information from companies to develop data-driven curricula. We will increase the recruitment of talent for the development of new materials, we will increase the development of 100% digital bootcamps. We will achieve a minimum of 10 strategic alliances with leading universities in Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil to start operations in these countries.
In 5 years we will be the main developer of educational solutions for the democratization of digital technologies in LATAM, we will continue collaborating with universities to go further in person, but we will focus our effort on promoting 100% digital solutions that allow us to reduce costs and increase access to all in LATAM to impact at least 1 million people.
The main problems by section are:
Financial: We need money to scale the business, we have already reached the stage of product-market fit, now we must move fast.
Technical: There is a limited number of experts to develop the courses in Spanish, we must find them (or develop them) and motivate them to be part of the company.
Legal: In Mexico through the universities we can grant course certificates, however, each country has its laws to endorse the skills acquired officially.
Cultural: There is a lot of bureaucracy in the universities which stops us from implementing the agile courses, on the other hand, we still need to educate the general population more in order to aware of the great need for these skills.
We will overcome each of these difficulties through: The main problems by section are:
Financial: Finding seed investment for 400 K USD, to scale the operation this year.
Technical: Finding the expertise through Linkedin, or developing them through the bootcamps that we already have. Through Mex4Industry we can develop events to bring the most recognized experts and thus develop content with them.
Legal: Hiring a team of lawyers and legal advisers for each country to understand the laws of each region and to be able to deliver the certifications through the universities.
Cultural: Generating valuable content to create awareness of the relevance of the subject, specifying the impact it can have on their lives, and the positive reasons to educate themselves on technology
- I am planning to expand my solution to Latin America/Caribbean
The corporate training and lifelong learning market is 366 billion dollars.
We plan to scale through the best universities in LATAM, I am a graduate of ITESM, and we already have an alliance with Zona Ei, of the Monterrey campus, now we seek to partner with other universities such as the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, University of São Paulo, and University of Campinas.
Scaling through the universities helps to make a minimum investment since it is not necessary to invest in infrastructure since we use its facilities as allies.

We are also looking for funding to scale our operations. So far we have won a number of awards, which have helped us sustain the operation in the beginning.
Mex4Industry has a Two sided market business model, being selected and winning the competition will help us accelerate our user acquisition by increasing our credibility with companies and universities.
If more companies open their doors to us to explore their talent needs, each time we will be able to develop more and better study plans, at the same time, this would help us to effectively approach universities to deliver this value by partnering with them and been able to bring to more students or educational solutions.
