TEMU is a low-skill jobs marketplace, with mission to break the cycle of poverty in urban slums. TEMU collecs data from Job Seekers and Job Providers, through mobile and web-based application, then acts as intermediary to coordinate and synthesizes data to match the right skills with the best job opportunities.
Many youths in developing countries, mainly those living under poverty, despite equipped with education (vocational school), face difficulties in finding jobs. The problem is lack of data: gap of communication and information between Job Seekers and Job Providers.
Gap of communication, such: Job Seekers unaware of their skills value and inability to communicate it; Job Providers demand of workers doesn’t reach Job Seekers.
Gap of information: lack of data for private, public, and government in making education plan and programs on employment. Hence producing Job Seekers with below standard skillset or worse not in accordance to the market demand.

Existing solution for Job Providers and Job Seekers of low-skill jobs on finding each other are offline. TEMU uses technology to help both parties meet and match them using algorithm making the process efficient and the TEMU business scalable.
TEMU also begins its journey by doing direct field research to slums and engaging with government, public and private sector. Developing all features from direct insight.
TEMU doesn’t reinvent the wheel, hence established cooperation with NGO and government (Ministerial and Provincial). TEMU creates solutions with beneficiaries. Before product development TEMU focus on field research in Jakarta slums. With this TEMU develops:

July 2016 TEMU close an angel round investment to develop the minimum viable product, which we have use to validate the product and business model.
June TEMU launched in application and have a great traction. In 1.5 months >2.000, 1.700 CV sent, 180 job listings, with >100 daily organic downloader. With this TEMU will be able to focus on attracting more Job Providers to use our headhunting service for low-skilled workers. TEMU generate profit from this service. TEMU also generate profit by conducting training CSR funding of big corporations.
Further, TEMU currently seek for further round of funding and grant.
Current:
We are limited in human resources due to funding. We need to increase this as we would like to expand our area of activities (such as acquisition of agent/RekanTEMU). This also hinders the number of headhunting service that we can provide at once, as some of the match-making are done semi-manually.
General:
- (Small Threat) Each area might have different culture which may impact the job recruitment process.
- (Small Threat) Many companies in developing countries provide wages below national wages rate. Despite workers accept this, many parties may see this improper.

TEMU was established with belief that it will be a solution which will be replicable in similar countries like Indonesia (developing countries, facing issue on urban slums, poverty and unemployment, with lack of data on said issues). This is why TEMU spent the first year of its development by doing direct field research in urban slums, engagement with government entities also private and public sectors. Making all solutions and features developed based on direct insights. Therefore, to achieve this it is important to obtain support and acknowledgement from as much parties as possible, including outside Indonesia.
