Knosk App and Knosk Schools Africa
- Pre-Seed
Our solution involves:
1. Enhancing the national curriculum to a hands on learning curriculum.
2. Developing an app with learning tools and resources to support the implementation of this curriculum in rural and suburban schools.
3. Creating demonstration schools as a prototype for low cost premium education.
Nigeria’s national curriculum is designed theoretical, without the practical learning experiences to facilitate the development of the 21st century needed skills in today and tomorrow’s job market. Corporate Nigeria has consistently raised the alarm that most Nigerian graduates are unemployable. The rich, access premium education by sending their children overseas or to expensive private schools in Nigeria. World Bank in 2013 put Nigeria as 33.2% poor, 48.3% vulnerable and 18.5% middle income.
81.5% of Nigerians have a slim chance to access certain kind of work, income and quality of life and we’ll continue to have a largely underskilled work force.
Vision:
To see millions of children across Africa break the cycle of generational poverty.
Pathways:
Quality education that builds:
- Strong character, enables civic mindedness and human excellence.
- A majority of its youth with 21st century skills for employability and entrepreneurship.
Proposed activities.
- Enhance the national curriculum to a hands-on learning experience.
- Develop an easy to use mobile app that facilitates the implementation of the curriculum in schools with various socio-economic and intellectual capacity.
- Build a prototype school as a model for low cost premium education.
- Scale through licensing and adoption in public schools.
Teachers through the mobile app will have access to a tool that reduces workload, supplies them innovative resources and creates room for skills development and productive teaching experience.

Our solution will be the first, hands on learning version of the Nigerian national curriculum.
Our app will be the first to provide 100% technology based teaching and learning support that is directly related to the curriculum in use.
More so, it will be the first time a premium product such as ours will be designed for the reach of low income schools, lower middle income, vulnerable and poor families.
The technology is designed to lighten teacher workload while helping them build needed skills.
The technology facilitates access to learning resources for children in the format they are most receptive to.
The technology is designed to work with varying under-served communities at different socio-economic realities and intellectual capacities.
The technology is designed to work in online and offline mode thereby serving communities with little or no access to internet.
The enhanced curriculum will be developed by a team of experienced teachers who understand the routine of classroom teachers and the ways they need support.
People will access our solution through the following ways:
Through our demonstration schools, serving as a pilot to finetune the model.
Through hundreds of thousands of public schools serving the lower middle income, vulnerable and poor families by using our mobile app and curriculum.
Government education boards, corporate bodies will be approached to subsidize access to the app and curriculum which will be priced at $6 per year for a school child.

To pilot (develop curriculum, mobile app and establish demonstration school), we are investing personal funds and soliciting for start up grants.
We will also sustain and scale our solution through the following ways:
School fees of students.
Increase in enrollment.
Corporate partnership and grants.
The adoption of public secondary schools in public private partnership relationship with government.
Providing licensing to other schools for the use of this curriculum and mobile app.
Online advertisement on our project website.
Parents Inconsistency in fees payment:
Parents are reputed for not paying school fees promptly. To manage this we have made cost low, flexible and in some cases based on family income. A flexible monthly payment option shall also be available.
Unmotivated teachers: This is usually related to fatigue and a sense of not being appreciated. Technology lightens this burden along with a strong supportive corporate culture and ensuring prompt payment of fair salaries and reward systems.
Unskilled teachers: Teachers are adequately trained on use of our technology and our environment will incorporate continuous professional development.
