Scan THis, augmented reality tool to teach a second language

In Venezuela and  Latin America there is a high percentage of illiterate people with disabilities like hearing impaired and  blind people,who don’t know spanish. Only Braille Signals languages.This situation avoid these population finish university careers,or can get jobs, and to be part of their environmet and most of them are excluded.

My proposal is offer these population an option to grow,get new language competences,and open new oportunities,using an app, which help them to learn a second language using Augmented reality.

This solution could offer new alternatives to grow professionally , to start, continue and to finish careers,to promote an inclusive background in educational and laboral areas to let dissabilities people to grow,and offer to the people the option to learn signal languages and this way support impaired hearing people.

Nowadays 80% of the dissabilites people in latin America and the Caribbean are suffering exclusion in many schools,universities and jobs,for this reason is important to offer alternatives to reduce this percentage and support them to develop effectively in their lives.

Venezuela is offering inclusion areas, but it is not enough to impaired hearing people.

I'm offering  tech-based solutions to close the skills gap and promote lifelong learning opportunities across Latin America and the Caribbean. To promote the critical thinking and  offer educational,and laboral opportunites to an understimate population.

The percentage approximately is 80% according to the last survey and research made by CONSORVEN (Impaired hearing association in Venezuela, year 2017)

If there are more exclusion for illiteracy in disabilities people,it is urgent find out solutions to encourage them  to study ,and to get competences,and skills to get jobs.

If there are teachers without strategies to teach them, because their disadvange is not to know signal languages or braille, as soon as this App is in the market, they can test it,and use it.

I am an english teacher, and Tourism Career coordinator at UNEXCA, 2 years ago I saw how many impaired students left the university,without finish their career,or how there were bullying by teachers.For this reasons I decided to organice them in a classroom,after I found out strategies and techniques to teach them english.I could see advances slowly in their english academical record,but I observed what was the real problem,not was english learning.The real matter was they only knew Venezuelan  signal language as their mother tongue (L1),and for this reason they could understand none subject.So the core of the problem is to teach spanish as a second language (L2).Then, inmediately, I got a pilot tool,I used it as a sample,and started to offer them the self learning and try to learn spanish positively.

The solution could offer them many advantages,first at all be included in  many process, areas to get a better level of life.Second offer them opportunities to grow academically and profesionally,and to reduce their limitations,and finally break the gap of the dissabilities people and the society.

I’m offering to hearing impaired people,an App with Augmented Reality,named “SCAN THis”which is based in a series of cards with grammar explanations,listening and can be developed reading skills.These cards can be developed in different languages,and it offers to spanish native speakers the possibility to learn Venezuelan Signals Language,and to read Braille too.

People can learn English and practice the language and develop four skills.

Disabilities people empower themselves with independent learning,using their mobiles phones or tablets only scanning a qr code,and practicing the language, that,they need.

People will get this App proximately by themselves by the app store,paying a fee.

Nowadays, I’m offering the App model to schools to dissabilities students,blind and impaired hearing associations,and public universities,which are attending people with these dissabilities.

As a Career coordinator,Iwill offer teachers workshop toknowhowto use the App,and get suggestions ,and ideas to improve it,because,It is being in construction yet .

I`m just getting the support to improve it,and find the financial to develop it.

Mainly,students from tourism,system engineering,social labor,and preschools careers are trying it to measure the results of their advances in their language proficiency level.

The meaning of the word in braille or signal languages.

Each pack of cards will be developed by levels,and contents too.

Technology:Augmented Reality based for this moment using HP reveal.

This App is an innovation,because It is developed using the newest technology,and it’s easy to use, and practical to understand their procedures and final goal.

This is an innovative project , because, I'm using augmented reality, offering the use of tablets, mobile phone, iOs,and any equipment, which can read qr code.

Virtual reality and Augmented reality are  new technological tendencies in Venezuela and few people are working in it. I decided found out uses of it to help population, because here, there are centennials and milenials people,with dissabilites, who need, help, and, as a teacher I need to help students tolearn ourmother tongue,in spite of their dissabilities.

Nowadays, Augmented reality is offering a new vision of education with its boundaries,and let peopledaily feel free and independent to study and getting a learning process in an enjoyable way.

I`m just trying, ans searching allies and people who can support my idea.

Well, "SCAN THis" is a project pilot, I`m being single with my proyect looking for allies, space to test it, and show the advantages.It hasn`t been easy, I`m just doing it slowly,but I believe in this project,and who has being part of it, can see the proyection and the benefits.

As soon as, this App is available to be downloaded, and the marketing of it, as the promotion of “SCAN This”, it will be spread,not only in the central region of the country,it will be expanded to all regions.I have showed my app in conferences in USA, and I have gotten invitation to introduce it. Colombia is a country,as a neighboor border,where I could show ,and try the boundaries of this app. Next Five years, is a projection,that this App “SCAN This” has grown,to be appied in different languages,and grammar structures, in order to support schools, highschools and universities nationally and abroad.

Our goals in the future are spread this App through the social webs, events and conventions, which I could be invited .

 My intentions are show the boundaries,and results of this App,in order to let populations from other countries can get it too.

My initial intentention is offer  an inclusive environment in universities and schools to the dispaired hearing people.

Next year goals:

Today, Venezuela doesn't have a good economical situation,but  there are people who believe in some crisis projects can run. and it is my idea,go forward.

Barriers that currently exist:

Financial: I don't have enough money to finish it.I need approximately 600 hundred $.

Legal :as soon as, it is ready, I must register it at SAPI (institution for intellectual property).

Market Barriers: To get the money 120$ montly for digital marketing.

For next five years:

Competence could appear.

The results won`t be the desire.

The cost to download the app doesn`t support it.

It won't be accept or used in the schools.

First at all, My expansion plan will depend on a promoting campaign,and international events, where I can show the boundaries of it.

The marketing campaign will help to expand this App.

The market of expansion is defined by countries around Venezuela,and USA,I'll show it at TESOL Teachers International Convention.

Dissabilities people are  around the world,it means that the expansion of the project will be easy to spread,because,each country is trying to generate an inclusive environment.

There are many  non-gubernamental oranizations,who wish to support and find new strategies and methodologies to improve the education  for people with any kind of dissability.

Schools and universities,that decide to use it will be exonerated.

This app will have a price to be downlooaded,but disabilities schools,people and soon will use a code to use it free.

The app willhave a cost per each downloaded,aproximately 5$.
