The solution: With the current rapid global rates of smartphone adoption, ubuplay is an app driven digital platform that collects top impact driven apps and solutions in one digital space. It comes along with a set of hardware devices to to enable particular user experiences, aid fast-learning, supports productivity, and enhances the right positive attitudes; all aiming to turn the digital divide into a digital opportunity for all.
Among all the various population groups, young people are the future workforce and leading creators and earliest
adopters of ICTs. They must therefore be empowered as learners,
developers, contributors, entrepreneurs and decision-makers; ubuplay was designed as 'Silver bullet' solution to global digital divide challenges.
Poor and marginalized groups in the developing world who include migrants, internally displaced persons and refugees, unemployed and underprivileged people, minorities, nomadic people, older persons and persons
with disabilities. Also as a whole ubuplay is designed to thrive within countries with economies in transition, least developed Countries, Small Island Developing States, Landlocked Developing Countries, Highly Indebted Poor Countries, countries and territories under occupation, countries recovering from conflict and countries and regions with special needs as well as to conditions that pose severe threats to development, such as natural disasters.
ubuplyb empowers them, particularly those living in remote, rural and marginalized urban areas, to access information and to use ICTs as a tool to support their efforts to lift themselves out of poverty.
Of the 1.3 billion Africans, up to half of them live in poverty (47 percent of the African population is living on $1.90 or less a day).
Lack of adequate infrastructure and lack of knowledge are two major obstacles that impede mass connectivity. These barriers limit individuals' capabilities in what they can do and what they can achieve in accessing technology. Some individuals can connect, but they do not have the knowledge to use what information ICTs and Internet technologies provide them.
