Learning Community for the Future
We are solving the problem of people becoming blocked out of the work force for skills and knowledge they never thought would be necessary in the first place. Our communities train and reteach people knowledge and skills that allow them to attain high level jobs that technology either won't make irrelevant in the near future if ever. Our solution provides a place to stay as well as education catered to high skill level jobs in various fields to keep the skills of the candidates up to pace with the growing advances in technology. It changes lives because our plan also accounts for underprivileged and unemployed people to live and learn. Because of the need, the school will partner with big companies for funding and will be able to train people specifically for a needed job and therefore reintroducing anyone back into the work force.
Jobs are dwindling. Services once in high demand due to our rapid innovation and growth are now disappearing. Families of the working class are losing money and the ability to make more. All of this is due to the introduction of robotics and remote operating systems being brought to the workforce. Assembly lines that were once filled with men and power tools are being swapped for machines and deadly accurate precision, at cheaper rates. Large corporations take the cheaper route to make an extra buck and this puts millions out of jobs. In order to combat this we need to update the workforce so they can stay in the game.
The people that we would be serving through this idea are those that have lost their job to machines. With this idea we would provide the education and resources needed to secure a new job there they can actually work the machines that took their previous job. If an angel investor is able to provide the money needed to build these schools people that have been replaced by machines will now be able to work the machines and have a job that they are now competent at. This idea serves more than just people who have lost their job to machines, this also has uses for teenagers who choose to not go to college. This can be compared to a trade school and provides an option for people who decide that college is not the right move for them and decide they would rather quickly learn the skills needed to join the workforce quickly. This idea applies to a wide range of people who all have different backgrounds and stories but one common problem; they need the proper training for a job working with machines.
Our solution comes from the idea of an angel investor in all reality. Angel investors come in and give funding to the businesses and ideas that deserve a chance to come to fruition. We took this thought and applied it to people. The core of the solution is to find angel investors, but not for businesses or ideas. We want them to invest in people. A sum large enough to make a huge difference in the lives of many people would be no more than a tax write off that billionaires, multimillionaires, and mega corporations wouldn’t even notice. With this in mind the funding would be a non issue. All of the funds would be used to create community like trade schools. These schools would be a place where all kinds of people can go to live and learn in order to reenter the workforce, or even enter for the first time, and thrive in the fast paced technological environment that caused them to fall behind in the first place. These trade schools would teach the wide array of students from various backgrounds and cultures essential skills for the modern economy. Skills like computer programming, money management, computer engineering, machine learning and physics, mathematics, machine operations and repair, etc. The rehabilitation of the learning of those that have been marginalized is aided the most when funded by large companies and here’s why. When a large company provides funding they can also detail the exact skills they need for jobs at their companies and even provide training for those skills as they’ll already have a massive employee network with impressive and diverse backgrounds. What makes this advantageous is that once the company trains them for exactly what is needed the company can instantly hire them because the rep the supplied as a teacher also acts as a recruiter speaking for the training and character of the student. These communities could be put all across the United states. The homeless population could be educated and reintroduced into society in many underprivileged areas through this system. Past graduates can help fund them or even return and help teach after they retire so the system can keep feeding itself through a cycle.
- Increase opportunities for people - especially those traditionally left behind and most marginalized – to access digital and 21st century skills, meet employer demands, and access the jobs of today and tomorrow
- Upskill, reskill, or retrain workers in the industries most affected by technological transformations
