JobSignal
- Pre-Seed
JobSignal using artificial intelligence to identify and predict key skill requirement changes in the job market to help job seekers identify which skills to acquire, where to acquire those skills, and how to leverage those skills to unlock economic opportunities.
The world is changing at a faster pace than ever. Jobs are evolving and their associated skills sometimes way quicker that workers imagine.
Key questions and uncertain answers arise as this automation trends unveil its potential:
As a professional, how do you anticipate the new needed skills that your role will require? How can you stay ahead of the game and upskill on what's actually going to be needed by the job market?
As a company, what should be the focus of your trainings? Where to find those?
Our core beliefs:
1/ The daunting statement that "technology will tech your job" is too simplistic. The economy is changing, yet lots of new opportunities are enabled thanks to those enhancements.
2/ A job is just a sum of evolving tasks. Some of them might automated, yet others will emerge and skills associated to them can be learnt, shared and mastered.
3/ The necessary growth mindset can be empowered. If you're aware of this need for upskilling and are willing to commit to it, JobSignal can become your best ally and set pointers on what to study and work on.
JobSignal has two main targets:
1/ Job seekers. We help decode what each and every role means in terms of researched skillset & tools (big picture). This give them an edge when applying to jobs as they might focus on how to bridge the potential gap between their current knowledge and the position they'd like to apply to.
2/ Working professionals eager to stay ahead of the game. Those active learners can keep track of the evolution of their current job. JobSignal acts as a reality-test tool with monthly updates that challenge their current skillset and open opportunities for them.

We've always relied on other people's expertise and insight to help us learn what skills to acquire. But this knowledge wasn't always accurate, and was frequently inaccessible to the people that needed it most, entrenching inequality.
JobSignal uses the best techniques in big data gathering and machine learning to collect a large survey of job data in real time and analyze it with artificial intelligence to identify key trends and skillsets.
This digital mapping of job openings and skill requirements unlocks new economic opportunities for individuals and ensures a workforce trained in the most in demand skills.
JobSignal doesn't just identify abstract trends, which can be intimidating or confusing for individual job seekers. We seek to map a complete pathway for a job seeker to understand what opportunities exist in the job market, identify key skills required to fulfill that job, uncover the best places to learn those skills, and finally find the job opportunities that target those skills.
Our solution is human-centric because it considers the problem from a human face: how to transform one's skills to unlock the job opportunities of the future to unlock the human potential in anyone.
Our solution is currently deployed as a web application, with mobile web option. In the future, we hope to develop a more personalized experience where users can signup and indicate specific interest that can help tailor their learning journey and job search, as well as track their learning and job progress.
We're also experimenting with chatbot interfaces to make the experience even more accessible for different populations.

We're now a team of two: Michael (tech) & Margaux (business). Michael is a CTO of a SaaS company in San Francisco, Margaux is the head of partnerships & corporate for a new University in Berlin.
Our limited resource was time as we are both working to sustain ourselves, yet we'd now be ready to fully commit to making Jobsignal go from an exciting side project to a worldwide solution for job seekers and professionals.
In the next six months, we'll focus on having a super efficient product and monetize it with suggested courses and trainings (as a lead generation model). With SOLVE and those new clients, we'd hire a small team to be faster.
Our two biggest challenges are:
1/ The quality of data we get from the listings. We're running a test for now with the API of Angel.co, a pretty neat service for tech companies. Each company offering a job can specify any skills they require for the role they open. Not all job boards are built like this and we'd have to encourage partnerships with bigger players to scale our solution.
2/ Time. We're running JobSignal as a side project for now.
Having the support of SOLVE would be an amazing accelerator as we could be equipped and dedicated.

We are solvers at heart and are passionate about what tech has to offer to Humans to make their lives better. We started working on JobSignal when we realised we had converging interest and would be extremely eager to have space to be fully dedicate to it for the next years.
SOLVE appears to be an incredible community of equally-driven individuals and we're convinced that JobSignal would flourish in such an environment. We'd also be great team players are we believe in pay-forward dynamics and have had diverse experiences before.
We were featured in Product Hunt and are currently discussing with the World Economic Forum (Michael was invited to Davos with this project).
