Pangea Electronics - The world starts being modular
Almost daily we read about innovations: 3DPrinter, ElectricCars, even the goal of populatingMars.
So the big question isn't whether we are working on the challenges of our time. The question is: Who will care about these challenges in the next generation?
They are our children and teenagers today. The problem is that our children spend most of their time at school. And schools are lagging behind technology.
At PangeaElectronics, we want to help schools to digitize.
That's why we developed the first modular and eco-friendly PC
PangeaMercury. Its modular system allows us to change only necessary parts and
offer it
- for only €9 per month
- with free hardwareupdates
- with free learning software
This helps schools to stay always uptodate by lowcosts.
And beyond schools we will support students by our effordable and modular laptop Pangea Sun. Its modular system enables students to customize it their individual needs.
Bangladesh has almost 15.000.000 students in primary schools (Govt. Primary School & New Nationalized Primary Schools).
Even if 3 students would get a PC, the costs for conventional PC would be unaffordable.
Even if only one PC room were set up for each primary school, that would still be almost 3 million PCs for 63,000 primary schools in Bangladesh.
There are also costs for maintenance, software and personnel costs.
And every few years big investments required to renew the PCs. With our modular system:
- no need for big investments
- no additonal costs for maintenance, software and staff
- the costs would be controllable and constant
- the PCs are always up to date (hardware and software)
We areconvinced that micro and individual solutions contribute to improvement butnot to a systemchange. This is more than necessary nowadays. The questions we ask ourselves:
If companies can cause problems in countries and among citizens by acting irresponsibly, can they not also be the solution FOR countries and citizens?
And how can we develop tomorrow's products that integrate people, the environment and socioeconomics on a global scale?
Our aim is to address social issues, to use the product to tackle the social challenge in an idealistic and financial way.
With this approach, we integrate all aspects of the environment, society, economy in the extraction of raw materials, production, digitization and responsibility.
For production we need different machines. Instead of buying and using them, we want to qualify people and leave them to them under a leasing contract. A fixed acceptance of the production units assures the lessee the fulfillment of his leasing installments. And with the profit he can live independently and build up prosperity.
The machine itself remains within the factory until the final payment has been received. After payment, the machine becomes the property of the lessee and can freely dispose of it.
Goal: Strengthen Infrastructure & Education
Pangea Electronics stands for innovative, eco-friendly and a sustainable technology. We want to create a positive impact in design, manufacturing and sustainable electronic with circular economy.
The Pangea Sun can do everything that is expected of a notebook and more:
Its modular design, individual parts can be exchanged and adapted to your own needs. It consists of a total of 8 modules or individual parts: Monitor, keyboard, mouse, battery, mainboard, computer and more.
While common modularity concepts focus on the interchangeability of individual defective parts, we at Pangea Electronics go one step further. We enable our customers not only to replace defective parts, but also to update and customize their Pangea Sun regularly. Instead of working with weakened batteries or outdated technology or looking for a new laptop every few years, we relieve the customer by automated upgrades.
Customers never have to buy an expensive laptop again.
A Hardware-As-A-Service for the B2C sector.

The trend and market acceptance of modular products have been confirmed since 2013 by Fairphone's modular smartphones. And the acceptance of sustainable and modular products now goes beyond that of the first follower. Fairphone alone is now growing by 233%.
And to prove that we are also able to develop a laptop that is also modular, we brought the Pangea Sun and Pangea Mercury to life in 2018 after 2 years of development.
Since the production of a laptop involves high setup costs, we will first release our Minimal Viable Product Pangea Mercury in 2020. This will even allow us to launch the Pangea brand a year earlier than planned and finance the production of the Pangea Sun with its sales.
The Pangea Mercury is a modular mini PC that can be easily connected to the TV or monitor and used as a PC.
- Provide equitable and cost-effective access to services such as healthcare, education, and skills training to enable Bangladeshi society to adapt and thrive in an environment of changing technology and demands
- Reduce economic vulnerability and lower barriers to global participation and inclusion, including expanding access to information, internet, and digital literacy
