Wheelchairs of Hope
Our Mission
INCLUDING EVERYONE
According to the WHO ( World Health Organization), over 7 million children worldwide lack the means to move around freely. For most , wheelchairs are an impossible dream.
Wheelchairs of Hope’s mission is to improve the lives of children with disabilities in the less developed areas of the world thus enabling them to live up to their god given potential.
We have designed and built an innovative lightweight wheelchair, specifically and attractively designed for children and – above all – extremely affordable.
We were thrilled by the immediate response to the first few thousands of wheelchairs we have already delivered at 20 countries.
Wheelchairs of Hope were enthusiastically received by children, parents and the local authorities, who see our wheelchairs as the ultimate means of mobility. They improve children’s self-esteem, empower them to access education and offer them hope for a better, happier and more independent future.
According to the WHO ( World Health Organization), over 7 million children with disabilities worldwide lack the means to move around freely with no access to a wheelchair.
It is estimated that in Bangladesh there is a permanent lack of 200,000 wheelchairs for children in the ages of 5 to 9 years old that our chair can solve.
Lack of mobility is due to a constant "delay" in bringing solution to disabilities in General. Only a joint effort with a business approach and a local relevant partners will bring a reliable and sustainable solution. \We know how to make partnerships with local stake holder and funding partners.
As mentioned we target 200,000 children with mobility disabilities of which at least 50% do not attend to primary education at all.!!!
Joining efforts with local organizations like The Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed in Bangladesh will provide a strong local and focused basis for long term development of solutions.
We have designed and built an innovative lightweight wheelchair, specifically and attractively designed for children and – above all – extremely affordable provided already in 20 countries at 100$ worldwide.
We were thrilled by the immediate response to the first few thousands of wheelchairs we have already delivered to countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
- Education
Wheelchairs are not new- the innovative solution we brought can be summarized in three:
a) a"children designed" wheelchair that enhances the child's self esteem. Not again another "reduction in size" of an adult wheelchair.
b) light weight when compared with similar solution, being tis critical for the child mobility.
c) affordable solution at $100.
lowering dramatically the costs and the supply chain of assistive technologies has proven to be the most effective solution to bring immediate relief and accessibility to products.
Our direct model of supply to the local rehabilitation centers allows us to keep the cost at $100 worldwide, opening great opportunities more massive solution provision.
currently 10,000 children.
In 2020: 15000 to 20000.
In five years we plan to have 150/200,000 children worldwide
1. 2020 to be able to make first few thousand deliveries in Bangladesh.
2. 2021: first stage of local production in Bangladesh to reduce logistics and create local work.
3. 2022: to achieve 20,000 provisions in Bangladesh
4. 2023: to achieve a constant provision of 30,000 wheelchairs per year.
In order to make a reliable plan for Bangladesh, we need to create a strong marketing structure, engage local partners to serve as paid "Ambassadors".
Scout the local industry to identify future manufacturing partners.
Create the local partnerships with the relevant rehabilitation organization to secure professional provision of wheelchairs to the right children.
Overcome potential market barriers, customs duties, etc.
All the above demand a risk capital of over $200,000.
As we already provided our solution at 20 countries, most of them with local barriers and limitations, we developed the model of "Ambassadors", key persons active and well recognized either from the academic world, the media or social impact entrepreneurs who know the local rules to engage the establishment and find the right path to solve the problems in the benefit of children with disabilities.
these Ambassadors structure is remunerated regardless of success, similar as sales teams at the business models.
We are approaching in parallel local rehabilitation organizations and potential founders.
two persons on daily base and a pro-bono team of 5 additional.
