According to the record of the Ministry of Agriculture,
Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAGAP), Ecuador currently
has 162,234 hectares planted with banana or plantain
(Musa paradisíaca L.) which indicates that this is a product
of great production and consumption in the Ecuador, however,
since it is an underdeveloped country, there is no adequate
control over it, generating a large amount of waste, mainly due
to its bad handling, thus causing its deterioration due to
bad management and causing economic losses for the country's
farmers As for the product itself, in addition, according to
studies carried out in Colombia, it has been determined that
due to this lack of biotechnological control approximately 52%
of this product is discarded which is generally incinerated or
discharged without any treatment or use of it
(Vidal FI, et al., 2001).
