With majority of urban dwellers being temporary house owners, a big percentage of the urban population faces challenges to identify service providers and get used to the new environment. The growing economies in major cities around the globe has also caused high costs of living for small-scale service providers to rent and maximize profits at their places of work. This has left many youths unemployed with 70% of the Ugandan population facing the current predicament.
Case in point, Ali is a 24 year old graduand from school of engineering at Makerere university. He joins over million of youths searching for similar employment in engineering. To his surprise, all government contracts are given to big organizations and the same organizations require that you need 10 years experience to be hired by them.
Ali, with two years of unemployment resorts to gambling and unskilled labour. All his learned skills have been wasted to luggage carrying and taxi driving. The same fate Ali suffers is what is happening to youths around the globe.
We are losing resources in form of time and money with increasing problems associated with urbanization.
Ali decides to partner with us so that we link him to people who needs his skills in engineering by offering him contractual part-time jobs. In a single week, Ali gets 3 contracts which he completes to our client's total satisfaction and convenience.
People in very many localities download our app and seek attention of our experts in different fields and according to their demands.
With over 52% of the global population living in urban areas, https://ourworldindata.org/how... our solution has come in handy to help and quicken service delivery of all home based services.
This is through use of our mobile app where people can order for any specialist of their choice from nurse, engineer, barber, technician, pharmacist, cleaner, vet doctor, among others. This will save on time wasted during traffic hours as people try to move distances to seek for similar services.
Jane, a 52 year old went to her place of work which is 30 km away from where she stays. In the middle of her journey, she notices that she forgot her daily insulin medicine. Perplexed in anxiety and with fear engulfing her, Jane decides to order for new insulin medication via the Urbanclap app.
To her surprise, a medical doctor from one of our partner health centres reached her in 5 minutes to check up on her and advice for medication prior to his findings.
Unlike most drug delivery apps which deliver medications without examining their patients, urbanclap has come in handy to bridge this gap.
With a fully stocked platforms that offers variety of services from health, home spa and wellness, repairs, interior designs among other, we guarantee utmost satisfaction for our clients.
The app use Google-speech recognition technology to match clients with language difficulty whereas it employs GPS system to track and real match clients to our specialists.

Urbanclap is a hyper-local business in nature. You cannot afford long-distance delivery for several reasons: first of all food doesn’t travel well. The second reason is that distance often reduces rider’s efficiency given that cities are high traffic places. In order to maximize rider efficiency, the ideal average distance for us is between One – two and a half kilometers. We try to put vendors and service providers in different zones based on this distance which is a common practice for us in across all of our operations around the world.

1. Currently, we are serving an estimated 7,056,709 people in both India, UAE and Uganda.

3. Around 57,000,000 will be served in 5 years time.
I want to partner with various ministries of trade in different countries to introduce a cross-border business.
I want to raise more capital to introduce Drones for deliveries. These drones will dispatch goods needed for emergency such as drugs and kits to aid people that are in distant areas and cannot be accessed in the shortest time possible.
I want to scale to other countries such as Kenya, Rwanda and Bangladesh and penetrate their fin-tech sectors.
I want to increase the number of service providers registered on the application to increase efficiency of service delivery and provide more employment to people.
Government policies that hinder development of startups through heavy taxation.
The second problem is online payment which is a challenge for these days as well. People are not either interested or habituated in online payment. Trust is also an issue when it comes to the online transaction.
Thirdly, I would say that infrastructure was and is a major challenge. The traffic is now worse than before. Since we run a logistics team, we get to endure the troubles that come with traffic and road conditions across the country.
The other most prominent challenge is finding skilled talent with an understanding of eCommerce. One of the reasons is, of course, our eCommerce industry is quite nascent. We can recruit and train people easily and people are also delivering but still, if we could have more skilled people then we could change the entire industry dramatically.
We are also faced with limited resources in form of capital to increase customer base and market reach.
Use partnership with already existing firms to help in labour in case of need to penetrate new markets in other countries.
I am applying to Tiger Challenge to raise more funds to be able to scale to other countries.
A significant percentage of our payments now happen offline. In some instances, it is around 90% which is inefficient for us as a technology business. Consequently, we have to collect, monitor and keep track of cash from our 250+ riders every day. It is a major activity which could have been smoother and faster if people had paid online.
