Daktar Bondhu
Daktar Bondhu is an on-demand video telemedicine service. We believe a patient shouldn't have to wait for hours at the doctor’s chamber to get advised on some primary medical issues. You can consult a BMDC registered doctor through our mobile app at a rate as low as 59 taka anytime from anywhere!
There are 2 scenerios:
1) Th rural people of Bangladesh doesn't have an easy access to an MBBS doctor when they need it. They mostly rely on their village quack or pharmacy salesperson for prescription drugs including antibiotics.
2) The urban people on the other hand, have access to doctors but they have to waste a lot of time in the traffic jam and serial for doctor. So they very often ignore primary symptoms until they get more complicated. Moreover, The working class and lower-middle class people also goe to the pharmacy for prescription as they can not afford the fee and logistics cost of visiting a doctor.
1) We are serving people in rural Bangladesh and the poor in the city who either don't have access to quality medical consultation or can't afford it
2) We are also serving the rising middle and upper-middle class who are very busy with their work to find enough time to visit doctors for minor/ early stage health problems
The whole process of Daktar Bondhu is simple. Whenever you need a doctor, just open our app and hit the search button. We will find you a verified and registered doctor within a few minutes. Then you can consult with the doctor through our robust online video calling service and get a prescription. In the near future, we want to expand beyond telemedicine and provide online medicine delivery, home diagnostic service and also act as a corporate healthcare provider.
- Upskill, reskill, or retrain workers in the industries most affected by technological transformations
- Health
Our idea is unique as nobody is providing instant video telemedicine service right now in Bangladesh despite the huge demand in this sector. People want to use this service because not only it makes their life hassle-free but it reduces their healthcare cost significantly.

By Decmber, 2019: 3000 calls/month
In 5 years: 2,50,000 calls/month, 20,000 home diagnostic service and medicine delivery worth 1 Million dollars
Within next year: To achieve product/market fit, partner with at least 500 pharmacies and get to break-even ASAP
Next 5 years: Be the market leader in the space and ensure quality secondary healthcare (not just online consultation) to the people of Bangladesh
Within next year: The primary barrier is to partner and train the pharmacy people and to raise enough money to facilitate that
Next 5 years: To make people more aware of the harm of taking un-prescribed medicines and to tackle the competition from large companies
1. We are hoping to get a govt. grant soon, then we will incentivize the users through referral program and train the pharmacy partners to be more efficient
2. The govt. and the justice system is trying to solve the unprescribed medicine problem. So law will be in favor of us.
3. To tackle long term competition, we have to raise more money and grow faster than our competition.
