E-Marriage System

Problems-

Child marriage is still a threat to our rural areas. Also, illiterate people often fell victim to false information provided. Apart from these, fraud people often hide their previous marital information when attempting for another marriage. Recent incidents like Dr. Akash suicide or Rifat-Minni saga provides an example of how severe these issues are becoming.

Also carrying marriage certificates everywhere isn't always possible. 

The solution is to keep an online registration system of marriages across the country providing a solid base of marital information. 

How to solve the problems and change lives for the better-

People will register their marriage online with NID. So the marriage administration will get all the necessary information. So in the case of child marriage, the administration will know immediately. Also providing false info or hiding previous information is out of the question. Besides, couples can get an online copy of their marriage certificate solving the last problem specified above.

1.The scale of problem is very large in Bangladesh.Child marriage is a common case in Bangladesh.Again thousands of cases are being registered in court about second marriage where males marry another women without concerning his first spouse.

2.In Bangladesh,providing false information in marriage is increasing.As a result many problems like early marriage,polygamy,human-trafficking,post-marriage complexity are occurring.

Early-Marriage:59% of girls in Bangladesh are married before their 18th birthday and 22% are married before the age of 15.According to UNICEF, Bangladesh has fourth highest prevalence rate of child marriage and the second-highest number of absolute child brides 4,451,000.

Polygamy:Polygamy and civil polygamous marriages are legal in Bangladesh. An estimated 10% of Bangladeshi men are in a polygamous marriage.But the problem is most of this case they don’t take wife’s concern.

Human-Trafficking:According to Eurostat and many international organizations,sham marriages are one of the common ways of human trafficking.

Post-Marriage Complexity:In last seven years,the divorce rate application has increased by a massive 34% throughout the country according to data compiled by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.Wrong information (ex:marital status)provide during marriage time is one of major reason for this.

3.Illiteracy,lack of awareness,analog system,lack of transparency of information and improper verification are responsible of this problem.

Basically we will be serving all the people of our country with this system. Because everyone is somehow connected to marriage. But if we try to be more specific, it's the poor and illiterate people of our country who are easily cheated upon by the powerful people of the society will be benefited most.

We talked with 11 families around Akhalia, Sylhet that are still pretty much backdated even after living in City Corporation. Some of them admitted they had to marry their daughter before her 18th birthday because of poverty or being forced on. Also when we explained our idea to them, even it mightn't be clear to them, they said they wish to abide by the laws if they are benefited.

What people need in case of child marriage is a strict application of the law. With our system, it will be much easier to detect these incidents and prevent them. Also, they can find valid information about the bride/groom before marriage and their previous marital status which nowadays is very much important. With the facility of providing online marriage certificate couples now need not worry about carrying their marriage certificate every time they go on a holiday tour.

The services we are providing :

1.  Personal information(like name, age, address) through NID number.

2. Martial Status. 

3. Protect Unlawful Marriage. 

4. Online Register. 

The technology we plan to use:

 We want to use a protected database system to keep the information of people. The personal information can be collected through NID. Here NID number can be a key to separate each person. Authorized people like marriage register can register marriage in online by providing documents and fingerprints of the bride and groom. We will build a website to provide all the services given above.

This solution is going to add a new dimension in our society. A lot of problems are occurring nowadays concerning marriage, mostly related to documentary issues. Our idea is able to solve most of these problems since there will be no need for paper works anymore.

This is a new idea for our country.
