Smart Garbage Monitoring System

All people of Bangladesh are not concern about dirt. They downthrow them randomly anywhere and most of the time sweepers are not concern with cleaning up dustbin which leads to pollute the environment badly. We are trying to solve this problem.

We will introduce a smart garbage monitoring system through which our people will be encouraged not to downthrow dirt randomly anywhere and sweepers will be informed to clean up dustbins timely.

Garbage problem is the most vital problem of today's Bangladesh. The mentality of our people is not so rich. They used to throw dirt anywhere unconsciously because the monitoring system of garbage of our country is very poor. So, We have come with a solution "Smart Garbage Monitoring System" through which people of our country will be encouraged to throw dirt on it's desired place and monitoring dirt will be more easier.

There are many massive problems presented in Bangladesh. Among them our country is facing garbage monitoring problem badly like people are not concern with the garbage and throwing them in a fixed place. The environment of our country is affected seriously that the roads , rivers and free spaces are becoming full with dross. The air of our country are becoming ill-suited for breathing. As a result, many people of our country are suffering from respiratory problems and so on.

More or less all the people of our country are affected by this problem directly or indirectly because it is the main reason of environment pollution and no one can get rid of the results of that pollution. Specially, people of cities are affected badly because this problem is getting massive in most of the cities.

As we mentioned earlier, the main reason of that problem is people of our country are not concern with monitoring garbage and we are not willing to throw dirt proper place. So, Smart dustbin or Smart Garbage Monitoring System will
help the sweepers to bring dirt timely. It will also make the people willing to throw the dirt in dustbin.

In big cities like Dhaka, a huge amount of people living there. Maximum of them are affected by that pollution. Mainly the middle and lower class people are affected directly because in practical case maximum dustbins are located beside their residence. Those dustbins are overloaded maximum time because sweepers aren't informed timely. So, people are compelled to throw dirt outside dustbin. As a result, a huge amount of dirt have been accrued. So, mainly sweepers need to clean up dustbin timely that means they need to be informed timely. There are many patients who are suffering from respiratory disease and water-borne disease due to this pollution problem.

So, our solution is to reduce the dirt management problem and encourage them to use dustbin properly. Through this smart garbage monitoring system the dustbin will be cleaned timely and properly. So, this solution will address their needs hugely.

Basically we will use two types of dustbins mini dustbins & mega dustbins in this "Smart Garbage Monitoring System" project. Both of them contains -

I) Opened up the lid of the dustbin autonomously, when people come in front of it to throw dirt. So, extra odour will be decreased because the lid will be closed for maximum time. As this is a new technology people will use it.

II) Their will be a LCD display which will show the amount of free space in the dustbin. So, one can easily understand the free part of dustbin.

III) There will be a scanner in the dustbin, which will be used to open the lid by sweeper using mobile application when the dustbin gets fill-up. That means after filling the dustbin general people can't open it except sweeper.

IV) There will be a mobile application through which sweeper can check the empty space of dustbin from anywhere.

V) When the dustbin will get full, a message with location will be sent automatically to the sweeper to make the dustbin empty after an hour interval. So, He/She can clean it as early as possible.

The technologies, we will use for this project -

I) We will use mobile application. The application of mobile app has already been discussed.

II) We will use sonar sensors by which the dustbin can understand the presence of people and the free space inside it.

III) We will use LCD display.

IV) We will use servo motor to open up the lid.

V) We will use GPS to track the dustbin through mobile application.

VI) We will use GSM to send message to the of sweepers when dustbin is will be filled.

Garbage problem is one of the biggest problem of current Bangladesh. This problem is getting massive because the lack of monitoring and unconsciousness of the people of our county. So, we are going to introduce "Smart Garbage Monitoring System". The features of this system is very unique. In this monitoring system people will not need to open up the lid manually, this will be done automatically. The sweepers will be informed automatically through mobile message including the location of the dustbin if the dustbin gets full. We will introduce a mobile application through which sweepers can check how parts of the dustbins are full remotely. There will be a scanner using this only sweepers can open up the lid when dustbin will be full.

So, those features make our solution very innovative.

The problem is about monitoring garbage and consciousness of people throwing garage at right place. Most of the times, in our country dustbins are getting full and people usually throw garbage outside the dustbins because our sweepers don't get informed timely and can't clean dustbins timely. As a result, environment pollution have been occurred. Sweepers will be informed automatically when the dustbin will get full through our solution. Besides, He can check the amount of dustbins remotely. So, he can clean up the dustbins timely. 

people need to open the lid of dustbins manually. It will be happened autonomously when people come to the dustbin to throw dust. So, it will be easier for people to use that. Since the lids of the dustbins will always be closed odour pollution will be decreased hugely.

Though maximum people of the cities are related to that kinds pollution related to garbage or dirt. But mainly the people of lower and middle class are affected by those largely. Our idea is new and we didn't get chance to apply it. But if we get chance, it will serve the maximum people of a part Dhaka city initially mainly people of slum will be benefited because they are affected badly. 

We all know there are large number of people situated in our country. So initially we will serve 15000 people because we will launch 30 mini dustbin initially. So, due to the financial limitation we will cover only some area of Dhaka city initially but with the progress of time we will increase our service.

We need four or five full-time staff

We need three or four part-time staff to repair our product if there any damage occurred. We need to form a technical team for that.

We may need one contractor or organisation to form the body of our dustbin. 

All the team members of our team have a electronics background because we all are now studying at Electronics & Communication Engineering Discipline in Khulna University. As we described, our solution mainly based on technology. So, it will be easier for us to materialise the solution. We can understand the technical problems and it's solution will be easier for us. 

To complete this project we won't need heir extra engineers because will can manage the technological parts easily.

We will try to earn BEP( Break Even Point ) very early. Because of some limitations we can not earn BEP easily. So it is a quite large process for our business to be sustainable. As we mentioned in our business model, we will rent our product at a reasonable amount for a certain time. By which we will earn our main profit and make our business more sustained. According to our business model we will earn our BEP in 6 years, it's long process but it is the most sustainable way we found for our business. After 6 years of earning BEP, we will increase our business and earn some profit. Then we will wait for next 2 year to make some profit to invest in this project.

The main problem to materialize our project is funding. As we all are student, we have very scarcity of funding. So, if we get funding our dream will come true. By participating here we can enrich our technological knowledge as we don't have enough scope of learning. We have some barriers like scarcity of space, materials, manufacturing lab etc. If we get chance to manage to overcome these barriers, we hope we will be succeed.

So, we think, there is a possibility of overcome these by applying here, if we get selected.

Our solution is mainly technology based. So, we would like to parter with technological organization because they can help us to import the product. They also help us to monitor these product. They can provide us some technical supports also.
