Magnetic drug delivery and positioning system
- Pre-Seed
A helmet capable of creating a magnetic field with the purpose of positioning magnetic nanoparticles inside a human head. Nanoparticles have been widely researched as possible drug carriers, anti-cancer treatment, etc. It would be cheap, easy to use and to transport (economically viable for underdeveloped countries).
Our solution consists of two parts - a ferromagnetic fluid that can be injected into the spine and of a helmet that creates a magnetic field, enabling positioning of the magnetite in a particular region of the brain tissue.
Our approach is an easy solution to a complicated problem. We believe that access to good and affordable healthcare is a human right, not a privilege, so the necessary tools for maintaining human health should be made affordable. The idea is simple, so it gives both future engineers and investors a lot of space for improvement, and it is a tool that can be used flexibly around the world for treating brain diseases.
The problem our solution solves is the average person’s lack of access to the newest achievements in medicine concerning brain health. Sophisticated technology like MRI are available only in hospitals, and because of their costs, the need of trained personnel, and the necessary infrastructure to operate it, it is hard to introduce and maintain this medical equipment in poorer regions around the world. What is needed is cheap, easy to operate equipment that could enable the newest advancements in science to benefit not only the wealthy, but everybody no matter where they live and what their income is.

The impact of our solution is saving lives - enabling the use of top notch medical technology to the poorest. Our solution will affect people in developed nations by bringing the costs of many costly treatments down. If perfected it may also bring new treatments to the people all around the world like control stem cell migration from “natural-centers” (hippocampus) to the injured area or new kind of cancer treatments. The technology will be deployed through medical outpost such as hospitals but also clinics and local medical posts.

We haven’t found any project that would be even trying to create an affordable, easy access helmet for magnetic nanoparticles manipulation. We use existing technology to create a universal machine that could revolutionize the brain treatment market. With the additional therapies we want to develop with the help of SOLVE the Cerebro project will be able to treat illness with targeted drug deliverance, kill cancer cells with thermotherapy and heal the divested regions of the post-cancer/surgery/stroke brain (this could also be used in the treatment of neurodegenerative dieses).
We believe that access to good and affordable healthcare is a human right, not a privilege, so the necessary tools for maintaining human health should be made affordable. The idea is simple, and we hope we can make it open access, so it gives people the possibility to upgrade it on their own, it gives future engineers and investors a lot of space for improvement, and it is a tool that can be used flexibly around the world for treating brain diseases.
As the helmet is much smaller and much more resistant than an MRI the so accessibility will be much greater as it will be much cheaper and easier to store. Also the price will be lower and there will be no need of costly and often scarce specialized medical staff to use it.

We plan to develop, grow and scale the Cerebro project by creating a for profit start-up that would be at first funded by investors by selling them shares in the start-up. This would give the money for research and pilot project and may help with growing the project. The scaling of the project will be funded by a part of the profit from selling the product (the other part will go to shareholders). We can also use the profit for developing more life changing ides thus accelerating the process of delivering affordable health care all around the globe.

We wish to take advantage of SOLVE by getting in touch with investors and people who have the know-how to help us pilot, scale and implement our solution. We hope that by learning from them we one day can also help somebody else with their project and pass on the know-how and the spirit of the people involved in SOLVE.
