Resin to Resell
My proposed enterprise shall reflect the following issues:
1. It will solve water logging, sewer overloading, unexpected flood, CO2 and toxic chemical emission in air and water.
2. My proposed solution is to clear off all waste plastic materials from sewers, lakes, rivers, and roads and recycle them into reusable products. This will also inspire public to use and dispose of plastic products wisely.
3. My solution, if implemented effectively, will ensure:
- less water logging throughout the country which in turn will reduce flood and accidents, contaminate environment less, and improve public health.
- tons of waste plastics will be recycled into re-sellable products which will be sold by appointed paid employees/workers.
- Labors and educated people will be required in recycling plants to do actual processing.
- We can even establish separate recycled plastic product export industry in our country. Thus millions of people can be spared of unemployment.
I am looking forward to solving waste plastic phenomenon. Following aspects should be considered deeply:
1. Plastic waste problem exists in a scale of country wise aspect. Plastic is used immensely throughout the country and its disposal are even worse. My solution based action may be implemented on a short radius, and upon successful implementation, we would broaden our action area- targeting the whole country eventually.
2. Middle-class, lower-middle class, and poor classes from city, urban, and villages are mostly affected by waste plastics and their consequent challenges. about 80% or more of the whole population are affected.
3. Daily production and dumping of plastics in various forms by industries, using and throwing off plastic wastes unwisely by consumers, ineffective or zero initiative by government or relevant institutions are contributing factors to such monumental problem in this country. These causal factors as a whole are the staple stone to map out the whole solution process.
As per study, urban areas of Bangladesh generates 633,129 tons/year of plastic waste and out of this, 51% plastic waste (which amounts 3,23,000 tons/year) is being recycled. Waste Concern’s research finding shows that with improved recycling, Bangladesh can save US$ 801 millions every year. This enterprise will work with students, unemployed but enthusiastic young generation, educated young potentials, labor class, etc. to accommodate work scopes and utilize their physical, mental and creative power.
Besides, the whole work process will remain continuous which will gradually improve the situation economically, environmentally, and nationally.
I'm not working with any victim class at this moment. The whole idea is a brainchild of several years' practical observation and study.
This solution will directly deal with removing and recycling waste plastic materials from various dumping areas, recycle them in plant, and will be sold as reusable products throughout the country. If possible, those reusable products can be exported too. Thus, plastic waste problem will be solved and people will enjoy healthy environment as well as employment opportunities.
Through my solution, I am offering my native people:
- an environment with less plastic logs and less number of flood incidents.
- opportunities of employment for thousands of people throughout the country.
- creating a dynamic image of our country to the world by making this change possible.
We will be needing both basic and advanced technology of recycling. We will need huge place or places for storing collected plastic wastes, sorting, recycling machines, packaging, etc.
We may need experienced and highly skilled researchers to consult on this function and its results. And obviously, our government should ensure cooperation in terms of every aspect related with this project.
- Support underserved people in fostering entrepreneurship and creating new technologies, businesses, and jobs

Plastic waste management is not a new issue, neither is it an alienated problem to our country. Even a very few organizations are already working on it.
But I am looking at this problem as an opportunity to build an empire of recycling which will be economically, environmentally, financially, and nationally a trend setter.
By this:
- waste plastic materials will be cleared from land, sewers, rivers, and lakes on a daily basis.
- labor class people will avail work apart from garments, foods, steel, and other existing industries.
- potential students from engineering, biology, environment, business, technology, etc. will be able to participate in this vast project voluntarily as well as on contractual basis.
- Bangladesh will be able to establish a distinct recycling industry and make an example like other developing as well as developed countries around the globe.
- general publish will be educated on plastic use, its pros and cons, and using safe alternatives.
I believe the core problem regarding plastic waste resides in the public knowledge, industrial perspective, and regulatory supervision.
The solution would address the plastic flood because it will:
- educate people about plastic waste issue and their impacts practically; with a first-hand knowledge.
- inform government and regulatory bodies so they see the real picture of how industries and public are dealing with plastic raw materials and plastic products.
- accumulate all waste plastics from lake, sewer, rivers, lands, and ocean which will result in cleaner and swankier water channels in our country.
- ensure safe environment and health for human as well as wild lives that move down the roads, inside the jungles, up in the air, and below water.
- establish a separate industry of recycling which is unique in Bangladesh along with providing wages for millions of people.

- I am currently serving none, literally zero through this solution. It is in a conceptual stage at this moment, not conductive.
- In 1 year, just the executive team consisting about 15-20 people may be served for hiring their intellectual. This is only for building the governing body, not implementing directly to the society.
- In 5 years, about 2000-4000 people will be served in terms of employment. But environmentally and public health wise, millions of people out there will be served.
Goals for the next 1 year are:
- to establish a governing body with like-minded people such as business people, teachers, researchers, students, carefully selected general people, etc.
- to sight-seeing of the selected places from where plastic wastes can be retrieved initially.
- to establish the idea in public minds so they can be prepared before what's coming.
- to communicate and ensure all regulatory support from the government and regulatory bodies for taking the project off the ground.
- to collect all required data through appropriate means in order to map out the complete plan for the next 5 years operation.
Goals to achieve in next 5 years are:
- engage about 2000-4000 human resources including executives, labors, plant workers, researchers, supervisors, sales team, marketing team, public communication team, etc.
- reduce plastic waste rate in lands, rivers, lakes, sewers at least by 60%.
- increase reusable plastic products use and decrease plastic waste significantly.
- ensure environmental and public health by reducing consumption of plastic borne toxic chemicals.
Some substantial barriers are:
- Most people in Bangladesh are unaware about the plastic waste issue and their consequent impact on the environment.
- Government and regulatory bodies are keeping their hands folded for ages which let the whole situation become worse over the years.
- Plastic industries are more focused on market competition rather than social responsibility. They dump more plastic waste materials and by-product chemicals into our tributary channels every single day.
- Young generation is a vital resource but they are mostly focused on products, services, and related businesses. Business schools may act as a staple stone for them and parents should be more open to let their children to do businesses that are beneficiary both socially as well as monetarily.
These barriers should be fought by:
- ensuring a continuous education system by which public will be morally forced to use plastic wisely.
- using public consciousness in convincing and pressurizing government and regulatory bodies to inspect and resolve the plastic waste problems at industrial as well as root levels.
- a separate or distinct recycling industry can automatically alert the plastic industries to dispose of their plastic waste wisely. Though many plastic manufacturing companies may see it as a threat but truly, a coherent business relation as stakeholders will help both the industries eventually.
- teachers, educational institutions, vocational institutions, universities as well as parents should encourage students to work for recycling industries. It's not a forcible thing to do but little inspiration may help them work on it in various ways.
- Other e.g. part of a larger organization (please explain below)
Sorry, my solution is just a conceptual issue. I have no team, neither am I a part of a bigger organization.
Zero
I have no team. But with proper resources, there is a possibility to bring about like minded people to work for this solution in better ways possible.
I am not partnering any organization currently.
It is a circular economy business model.
1. Workers collecting plastic wastes from selected sources and storing in identified place ------> 2. Waste plastics are recycled in recycling plant ------> 3. Recycled plastics are supplied to plastic industries or a distinct reusable product making industry (connect to this project) for making reusable products ------> 4. Appointed sales & marketing team sell the reusable products to appropriate customers ------> 5. Consumers throughout Bangladesh collect the reusable as well as other plastic waste materials in Recycle Bin provided by this project ------> 6. Recycle bins are collected by appointed workers to return them to recycling plant.
Thus the process goes on. Research and development team shall be appointed for continuous growth and development in the operation.
I have currently no idea for this.
Tiger challenge may help bring about more eyes to this solution who would be eager to fund enthusiastically as well as provide skilled human resources to plan and operate this solution.
