Jessie
Barriers to accessing health services, such as distance and limited resources, are bringing virtual care solutions to the forefront of care. Women are seizing the opportunities that technology provides and as a result there has been a growing number of digital solutions arriving to market - ranging from online prescriptions for birth control to at home diagnostics - yet only a few have reached scale and have achieved long-term sustainability.
The result is a highly fragmented landscape of unvetted and disconnected solutions.
This is where Jessie comes in: Jessie is a platform that provides vetted and integrated solutions where women can find a trusted selection of virtual care services in one place. Through personalized navigation and support, Jessie makes it easier for users to compare, understand and access affordable quality services and products that best fit their unique needs and preferences.
Jessie is committed to driving health equity at a global scale.
The Jessie platform simplifies access to affordable and vetted virtual care services that address the unique needs of women, including fertility, maternity, and menopause. Despite improvements in coverage and access, nearly one in every four (26%) women in the US as compared to one in every five (19%) men delay or go without care because of cost. In addition, nearly one in every four women (23%) do not obtain care they needed because they could not take time off work.
Globally, women experience challenges accessing affordable healthcare services as compared to men making them more susceptible to chronic disease and pregancy complications. Progress has been made in the past decade, with many examples of good practice, yet there is still a need for scalable and sustainable solutions.
The Jessie platform serves mid to low-income women between the ages of 18-64. During the fall of 2018, the Jessie team conducted in-person interviews with women ranging in age from 22-62 and from various socio-economic backgrounds to better understand the gaps and barriers women experience in healthcare. Using this data, we introduced a digital health assistant in 2019 named "Jessie". In addition, we partnered with nine vetted virtual care vendors that offered virtual care services that meet the most pressing needs of our initial interview group. From January until March, the Jessie digital health assistant was made available to a closed beta user group to create a language designed to help women form consensus around their health needs and to navigate to the most appropriate virtual care services.
This summer, we will be working with the the Florida Blue plans to improve Jessie's natural language processing and risk stratification and management tools.
The Jessie platform, through digital navigation and personalized support, makes it easier for users to compare, understand and access existing virtual care services and products that best fit their needs and preferences.
We take self reported information (i.e. current physical location, age, PHI, and care preferences) to determine eligibility, identify risk factors, and understand user predilections. Over time, our solution will be used to provide real-time health interventions in addition to navigation to affordable quality virtual care services.
Using the Jessie platform, women have access to information that they can be confident is relevant, timely, and useful for their circumstances at hand.
We are currently working with 15 vetted virtual care vendors to provide access to over 100 services that fall under eight categories of care; reproductive health, sexual health, maternity, menopause, dermatology, hereditary cancer, general wellness and behavioral health.
The Jessie platform is a web-based, two-sided network, having two distinct user groups (patients and virtual care vendors) who provide each other with network benefits.
We are currently using natural language processing and risk stratification tools to power Jessie's artificial intelligence capabilities.

Jessie is innovating in women's health by using choice and personalized support to drive engagement. Our approach is driven by our shared goal to ensure that the most vulnerable populations in the US and abroad have access to information and services they can feel confident is relevant, timely, and useful for their circumstances at hand.
Our competitive advantage is our ability to provide on-demand access to health services from multiple brands on a single platform. In addition, we offer a comprehensive women's health solution at an affordable price.
Version One of the Jessie platform is a web-based application that will be re-purposed for mobile application following Jessie's proof of concept. Later advancements will be incorporated into the platform using data driven insights provided by our initial set of users and large payors including Florida's BCBS plans. We intend to use this data to develop our machine learning capability and enhance the behavioral design of the platform.
