Healthy water for healthy cities.
Water pollution is the main issue affecting human lives in many ways. We all should know the causes, effects and preventive measures of the water pollution to make our lives better. Until now, people were the main reason for contaminating the water, so it is the right time for us to be the main reason for saving the water.
The main goal of our team is abbreviating heavy metals such as manganese and lead through only one easy, economical, chemical reaction. Also we are making the water alkaline and we place nanoparticles of silver. Our study shown that electrochemical activated water has positive and preventive effects on the oxidative-stress diseases such as:cancer, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases and side effects of haemodialysis. Secondly,silver nanoparticles have antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal effects.
The fact that with this prepared water will be prevented huge amount of diseases, we are affecting the whole population.

1 of 3 people globally do not have access to safe drinking water (UNICEF, WHO).
4.2 billion people do not have safely managed sanitation services.
2.5% of the children in USA have the highest levels of lead in their blood.
We have made a research that some places around the world have higher concentrations of lead and manganese in the water caused by industrial objects. Especially in Norton,USA, where 0,3 mg/l which is higher than limits of World Health Organisation (Required limit =0, 001 µg/l).

Enough of statistics, let’s see where is the problem.
Through these statistics we have come up that toxicity of lead and manganese is serious problem that most countries are experiencing consequences like pollution and NCDs which are contributing factors factories and natural causes partially.
The problem we are trying to solve is contaminated water with lead and manganese that results with NCDs, other diseases.
5 Why’s
Factories are releasing Pb and Mn-->leads to high concentrations of Pb and Mn in water-->leads to high concentrations of Pb and Mn in human body and animals -->leads to many disease-->unhealthy cities.
How are we going to have healthy cities without healthy water?
First of all, we are going to help the population that lives near industrial areas, since they are mostly affected by useless products (toxic heavy metals) of industrial processes that factories are releasing in the water. Our local research in Republic of North Macedonia shows us that 2/3 of fuel factories release toxic heavy metals in Vardar River. We made a survey of the population in City of Veles and from 100 respondents, 87 of them wanted a solution for their water and asked for solution that the factories should stop releasing toxic heavy metals so they will not pollute their water, that’s how we understood their needs for clean water.
According to WHO lead in drinking water has negative effects on laboratory tested animals such as neurological effects (cognitive difficulties, low attention and ability to memorise), reproductive toxicity, embryo toxicity, teratogenicity, mutagenicity and related end-points, cancerogenity. The victim of the polluted water is the whole population, target groups are pregnant woman and children, also nature (flora and fauna). If polluting the water continues the consequences are clear, so our solution have positive and preventive effects on diseases that are cost by consuming polluted water with manganese and lead.
Our solution consists of two goals that are going to meaningfully improve the human health and implementing new process for factories to abbreviate heavy metals.
1.The most important part of our project is innovation that our team has come up with only one easy, economical, affordable chemical reaction that eliminates manganese and lead from water with only putting hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate:
KMnO4 + H2O2 + Pb(NO3)2 -----> MnO2 + PbO2 + KNO3 + O2
In this reaction occurs precipitation of the two problematic metals for factories, we filtrate the solution and it is environmentally friendly water without Manganese and Lead.That can be omitted in the environment safely, without consequences.
Factories are using many chemical reactions that are much expensive and less effective than our reaction for the same purpose. We come up that only with 5.5$ we will clean 1 L contaminated water from Lead and Manganese.
2.Secondly, we recommend the Aquator device that can be used at home for drinking water (alkaline water and silver water), by inserting the silver electrode to the device and by the process of electrolysis we get alkaline water (pH>8) and silver water.They both have antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal effects.Also they balance the metabolic processes.
We want to make a campaign to raise people's awareness for the benefits of drinking water without any toxic metals,also Silver and Alkaline water.
The art of our project is that a very big problem can be solved in a very easy way.

We have developed an innovative approach to an old, existing problem that many factories are facing. Some of them even recklessly throw the lead and manganese in water so they are polluting also the water that is used for drinking. Since there are many comprehensive analyses and technologies that have to be done to reduce lead and manganese from drinking water. Apart from the fact that humans are not the only victims from higher concentrations of toxic heavy metals in water.
But those who are determined to protect the water use many complex reaction mechanisms that consists of a number of chemical reactors which are very expensive.In order to eliminate only one of these two toxic heavy metals (lead and manganese), they are exposed to use more than two reactions, that results with spending more time. In context of this, spending more money is not excluded as the reactors and filters are much more expensive.
We are contributing by developing innovative chemical reaction that allows industrial objects, especially fuel factories that releases lead and manganese, to rid of these heavy metals with this effective reaction.Needed reactors for our chemical mechanism are potassium permanganate-KMnO4(price for cleaning 1L of water= 0,18$) and hydrogen peroxide-H2O2(price for cleaning 1L of water=5,17$) in Republic of North Macedonia. These makes our solution beneficial for factories as a result they save money, time and resourses.
Our solution is a new application of an existing technology. We recommend to fuel factories using our reaction that is economic and much more effective than the other technologies that they use to filter their waters. We use potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide for decontaminating the water solution , we tested it and the costs to use our solution is 5.5$ per Liter.
We are suggesting Aquator silver device to get alkaline water and silver water by inserting the electrode and turning on the device so that with the process of electrolysis we end up getting alkaline water or silver water, this is for home use that is antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal.
For this solution we have been researching for about a year. Is new and never been used before. Our chemical reaction to eliminate toxic heavy metals from water that most of factories release to the rivers and pollute the environment.
- Biomimicry
The problem that our population in City of Skopje and Veles are facing is obvious.Our experiments on the water in City of Veles were carried out by using the method of atomic adsorption spectroscopy(made in Public Health Institute),that shows higher concentrations for lead and manganese in water=2,22 µg/L which is higher than World Health Organisation limits(Limit that WHO allows presence of these two toxic heavy metals in drinking water is 0.001µg/L).
Analogically these higher concentrations in drinking water results with increased level of sterility and anaemia for 5%(Statistics were taken from Ministry of Health of Republic of North Macedonia).We are offering a new way to eliminate the water from these toxic metals with only one chemical reaction. There is a double benefit from our solution since we are serving first of all, human and animal population by preventing many diseases caused from consuming higher concentration of lead and manganese with drinking water such as:
*Cancer;
*Mutations and related end-points;
*Sterility;
*Anaemia;
*Cognitive difficulties;
*Low attention and ability to memorise;
*Embryo toxicity;
*Teratogenicity.
Second benefit is decreasing the expenses that fuel factories spend for expensive methods and reactions to remove toxic metals in a longer interval of time.

For now, we are serving approximately 30 families as we have made a seminar occurred in Medical Heigh School of Skopje,,D-r Panche Karagjozov", where we explained them how to apply the reaction in home conditions. By putting the exact concentrations of potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide in 5 l of drinking water. On the other hand, unavoidably is the usage of this reaction that eliminated lead and manganese, but we are trying to solve the root of our problem which are factories(Statistics in country:Republic of North Macedonia shows that 2/3 of fuel factories are releasing these toxic heavy metals in the water, especially in city Veles).
In one year difference from now we are planning to make connection with fuel factories in capital city of Republic of North Macedonia-Skopje(approximately 507,000 citizens) and in five years probably whole population of Republic of North Macedonia (approximately 2,000,000 citizens).
Our goals are clear, as we are going to make contracts with fuel factories and other industrial objects, since our team is tending to affect globally on millions of lives.In order of winning this competition we would need necessary help from your team of mentors which will support us during we are convincing the Local Government to realise this project in it's full potential.That means all fuel factories in City of Skopje that are facing this problem with eliminating lead and manganese should use something that is more effective, something that will low their expenses. Trough applying our chemical reaction mechanisms in fuel factories we are having impact on all citizens in city of Skopje.
So, let's make City of Skopje a healthy city.
The politics in the Republic of North Macedonia are very specific, years ago we are dealing with bad politics and non beneficial Local Government. The first barrier that we are going to face is to convince the directors and managers of the most powerful fuel factories to use our method, in order to abbreviate heavy metals, which leads to healthy environment. Other barrier that might inhibit the realization of this project would be our law proposal not corresponding with already existing laws for environment.
Dealing with outstanding barriers we are going to organise non-profitable campaigns,panel discussions open discussions for raising awareness of the people who are directly involved in the fuel business and others who might be connected with this issue.Marketing is the key with overcoming this barrier(workshops, leaflets ect.).
We are going to raise our voice through the TV and social media in order to make easy approach to the population and directly to affect the Local Government.

Our team consists of three full-time staff members doing the main job(making campaigns, panel discussions and concluding contracts with fuel factories to use our efficient chemical mechanism), managing and organizing the following steps into realization of our project.One part-time staff member(Chemical engineer) , two workers separately only for consultation(one employee in Local Government and one in Local fuel factory).
We are enthusiastic and optimistic, students of University of general medicine, future doctors.Our primary goal through the whole medical high school education was reaching the highest level of success in nursing.We have been attending and winning many competitions such as MEF international competition for innovations in microbiology that we have won the third place, also we took two times in a row first place in national competition for start up business and innovations in Republic of North Macedonia.All the projects that we were working on were medical and scientifically based .
We are partnering with Public Health Organisation of Republic of North Macedonia where we have done the experiments, they provided us with all necessary conditions, Pharmaceutical Faculty of Republic of North Macedonia that allows us to use their chemical laboratory.

Fee-for-service model consists of social services in the sector of health witch our services are included.The path that our team is going to financial sustainability would be achieved through financial self-sufficiency by fees charged for services. Although, we are going to receive incomes from fuel factories that will use our reaction, but we have to mention that incomes from workshops and campaigns are not excluded. Implement of service and funding from Innovation Fund of Republic of North Macedonia will recover the expenses for marketing.Developing contracts with Local Government of City of Skopje would definitely secure the sustainability of our innovative solution.

*Innovation Fund of Republic of North Macedonia that will provides us with the necessary financial resources to make this project real.
