Climate Innovation Consultant - Supply Chain Sustainability

Position Overview

MIT Solve, a marketplace for social impact innovation, seeks a Climate Innovation Consultant to support our Global Challenges team. This role will help drive a strategic Custom Challenge focused on reducing emissions in consumer electronics supply chains, launching March 2025. Solve is seeking a consultant with program execution experience and familiarity with materials, electronics, manufacturing supply chains, and/or climate tech to support the design, promotion, and selection for the challenge. 

Working directly with industry leaders and innovative startups, you'll help identify and accelerate breakthrough technologies that can transform supply chain sustainability. Join us!

Timeline: Immediate start through August 2025 (10-20 hours/week, depending on challenge phase) 

Location: Remote with in-person events

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Key Responsibilities

  • You will deliver key components of the Custom Challenge, with guidance from the Challenge Lead and other Solve staff. These include:

  • Consult industry experts to define challenge design and parameters 

  • Research and recruit technical experts for solution vetting and mentorship roles

  • Create comprehensive challenge documentation including challenge description, technical requirements, evaluation criteria, and impact metrics

  • Design and execute a targeted outreach strategy to reach 200 qualified startups applications globally 

  • Screen and review applications and coordinate technical review process, leading to the successful identification and advancement of innovative solutions with real potential for impact

  • Develop strategic communications to applicants and finalists

  • Drive finalist preparation, including tech due diligence process and vetting interviews

  • Help coordinate cross-functional workflows between MIT Solve team, client, and external partners

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in program management, consulting, and/or climate tech

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully executing time-sensitive projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate technical solutions and their potential impact

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Ability to work independently with guidance on scope and prioritization

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 

Beneficial Qualifications - strong candidates will have some of the following:
  • Familiarity with technical innovation in areas such as materials, electronics, manufacturing supply chains, and climate tech 

  • Familiarity with corporate product integration and sustainability, particularly within supply chains 

  • Track record building and managing relations with key internal/external stakeholders including clients and their staff 

  • Experience planning and facilitating startup-focused events, workshops, and programs

  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. Asana)
