VIDEO: Running Water in Every Urban Home

Bringing running water to every urban home in the developing world. That’s the vision CityTaps laid out when they pitched their solution called CTSuite to the Solve community in September as part of the Sustainable Urban Communities Challenge.

CityTaps estimates that 1 billion people do not have running water at home. This costs them money, time, and health.

CityTaps wants to change that with CTSuite: A prepaid and smart meter that helps the urban poor connect with water utilities.

The users can pay for water service in advance using a cell phone, and they can pay any amount they choose or have available. This system helps the urban poor get the water they need, and it helps the water utilities monitor and maintain their infrastructure.   

CityTaps is piloting in Niger and is planning to expand. That is why CityTaps pitched to become a Solver as they begin forming the partnerships they will need to scale for global impact.
