Atlassian Head of Foundation Announces Prize on Youth, Skills, and the Workforce of the Future
If you haven’t heard yet, Solve is joining forces with Atlassian and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to offer grant funding for our new challenge on Youth, Skills, and the Workforce of the Future.
And this morning, Atlassian Head of Foundation Mark Reading posted on LinkedIn to talk about the prize from Atlassian.
Read his announcement below, check it out on LinkedIn, and share it from your networks to help us CrowdSolve this global challenge:
Hi everyone.
I am the head of the Atlassian Foundation, probably Australia's most well resourced corporate foundation (e.g assets of A$60m plus access to >2,000 hugely talented Atlassians). We have set the very bold goal of helping to prepare 10 million disadvantaged youth for the workforce of the future, within 10 years.
To achieve this goal we are wanting to identify and then support the most innovative, scalable, technology based approaches to education of disadvantaged youth (children and young adults up to the very early twenties).
We have committed up to US$1 million in funding the first year and we intend to be long term supporters of whatever initiatives are best placed to have the impact we're seeking.
The Australian Government, through DFAT's Innovation Xchange (https://ixc.dfat.gov.au), has matched this funding.
We have partnered with MIT (through their "Solve at MIT" initiative) to launch the Youth, Skills and Workforce of the Future challenge.
Applications close 1 August 2017.
If you have, or are working on, a great scalable education initiative that benefits disadvantaged youth, please apply. If you know someone who would be interested, please share this message.
Thanks,
Mark
